"Fire 'n Ice..."

Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 25 March 2015 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

...a still life setup for a class I'm taking.
This Harden Hand Grenade Fire Extinguisher belonged to my grandmother and it's one of the things I treasure, mostly because it was hers.
It is still filled with either carbon tetrachloride or salt water, its cork & cement stopper are still sealed in place.
The Hans Brinker book was illustrated by an uncle of my husband's, so it's another treasure we love.

SONY DSLR-A100 1/15 second F/8.0 ISO 400 75 mm (35mm equiv.)

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

Treasures for sure. I read Hans Brinker, Silver Skates (I think that was the title) when I was a kid.

This is a beautiful still life! I love the fact that these are treasured items that belonged to family members. Such wonderful history that creates a gorgeous image.

@Elaine Hancock: Thank you, Elaine, for your many comments. I appreciate each one but haven't had time to comment individually.
I was busy with family, then Easter, and now the 'let down' after all the excitement.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

WONDERFUL !!!***** Again...great choice of objects and processing.( I'd try this with a filter that makes them look as old as they are, without impairing the colours.)

@Japanalia: I tried several times with different filters, but ended up preferring to see the glass and the book title, which ended up obscured when filtered. Who knows, I might try again sometime. ;D
