Verrazano Bridge..

...behind us as we head north into the East River.
Diesel exhaust is so evident in the photo ... and was to the nose.

Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

that's how i saw new york for the first time ... i came by ship from europe, just like millions of people before me. a few minutes after sunrise, we crossed under the bridge and etered the bay, with a view of the statue of liberty and the skyline ... something i'll never forget !
(thankfully, though, i didn't have to pass through ellis island ... ;-)

@franz: Aww, that had to have been a WONDERFUL day in your life. As for not having to pass through Ellis Island, you were blessed. I'm happy to have visited the island and saw where the people had to go.
