Tarpon Springs, Florida. If the tune doesn't come to mind, listen to it here.

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.

I had to go listen even though the tune came to mind as soon as I read your title. A nice shot of these hard working vessels Judy

Those long booms look like cranes - are these for hauling in the shrimps?

11 Jun 2014 11:00am

@Lai Chan See: I'm guessing the booms haul in the very large nets when filled with shrimp.

Mhelene from Villiers-sur-Marne, France

Fine pictures of these large shrimp boats. It must take a good bank roll to get into this business.

Clicked on your link and was delighted to hear Cerys Matthews singing on an advert for the Welsh Tourist Board before the Shrimp boats song started..Thank you my friend for making my day. ;>))

@Jeff & Pat: That's interesting that you heard a 'local Welsh Tourist Board' ad ... it just shows that 'big brother' is watching each one of us. <grin>

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld(Old West Wales Boy), Germany

Great Image,I love These working boats and the product they bring ashore.
Unlike my Dad I didn´t get to hear one of Wales´s finest voices on an advert before the Shrimp boat song (I´m guessing you didn´t either) So here´s a link to a Cerys Matthews song /she sings in both welsh and English)

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Thanks so much, Ant, for sharing a link to let me kmow what Cerys' voice sounds like. It amazes me that in the UK there are many accents, but the Welsh language is so far removed from anything we can understand. I did a cursory search but didn't find a good explanation. Can you help?

These ships look quite massive as if they bring in huge catches!! I love the height you've given this composition. I might have to bet that Ken will bring in more. :-)
