High on a hill...

Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 25 August 2013 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

...yes, each time I see this image I want to sing along:
"High on a hill was a lonely goatherd
Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee hoo
Loud was the voice of the lonely goatherd
Lay ee odl lay ee odl-oo..."

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

What a dynamic composition this makes - the image all but speaks (or, as you suggest, sings !)

@Ronnie 2¢: Thank you, Ronnie; I was so tempted to amp up the saturation and some other 'stuff' ... but this is the way I saw it, so left it alone.

DarkElf from Perth, Australia

great composition! i like the diagonal slope of the hill and there is good balance between foreground and the sky!

26 Aug 2013 1:31am

@DarkElf: Thank you for your comment. Looking at it now, I would have tried off-setting the little chalet away from the center of the image, but didn't think of that 15 years ago when I took the shot.

L'angevine from Angers, France

intéressant chalet

franz from Baden, Austria

yessss ... i can to relate to this !!! some friends of mine rented a cabin like this in carinthia in the 1970s, and i spent many a wonderful week there, hiking, meeting the neighbours, relaxing, and one time even skiing. as it was on a slope just like in your photo, we diverted a little stream from a spring a bit uphill so that it flowed past the cabin, and we even had running water. there were cows and horses on the pastures all around, and sometimes it was completely still, not a sound to be heard. bliss !!! ;-)))

26 Aug 2013 8:05am

@franz: I'm glad you could relate to that little chalet/cabin on the hill. Your story of being w/friends 30 yrs ago at a place like this brought a smile to my face. You "diverted a stream for running water, but cows and horses" used those pastures? How clear do you think the water was? <grin>

Linerberry from Herne Bay, United Kingdom

Ahh yes the perfect song for this remote place - so peaceful

26 Aug 2013 8:52pm

@Linerberry: The views are simply spectacular, everywhere you look!
