Barn in the Tyrol...

Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 15 August 2013 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

...this typical architecture warmed my heart.

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

Is that a birdhouse on the right ?

@Ronnie 2¢: No, Ronnie, I think it is a small shrine; there were many of them in the country.

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Beautiful old barn, those buildings are so special

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld (Old West Wales Boy), Germany

Very typical, right down to the balcony full of red Geraniums !!

15 Aug 2013 11:11am

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Yes, the flowers everywhere made things very cheerful.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Phewww! What a barn!!! Such construction, so clean and well maintained, would be a place to live in other areas of this world!
And the geraniums on the left make me so happy! (I don't know why I have such a liking for geraniums...maybe just because they look so homely!)

15 Aug 2013 11:21am

@Japanalia: I know how you love geraniums and I loved these too.
Computer issues have me way behind on things ... our son is supposed to come and help - just not sure when.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

From the amount of wood they have put up it would appear that they are expecting a cold winter! Nicely captured Judy! ;-)

15 Aug 2013 12:41pm

@Eric Cousineau: I imagine the snow builds up in those valleys ... well prepared = good scouts!

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

The viewpoint is magnificent - seeing not only the lines of the barn, but the gorgeous background.

15 Aug 2013 5:26pm

@Ruthiebear: Thanks, Ruthie ... computer issues have me bogged down. ;(

BiLL from Belfast, United Kingdom

A beautiful part of Austria. The colours are excellent, Judy.

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

The steep mountainside is really amazing behind the barn!! Incredible PoV!! The colors warm up nicely against the verdant background.

15 Aug 2013 6:36pm

@Steven: Thanks, Steven ... not too bad considering it's a scan of a 15 yo photo. ;D

Linerberry from Herne Bay, United Kingdom

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

I remember seeing some homes kind of like that where the barn was the bottom part, and the family lived in the top part.

15 Aug 2013 9:08pm

@B. Thomas: Yes, we did too, Barbara.

Maria from California, United States

so you have your own set of Alpine images...
lovely barn Judy... reminds me of a few similar ones that I saw in the lovely village of Alpach in Austria

15 Aug 2013 11:10pm

@Maria: Yes, old photos that I enjoyed scanning ... quality of some are okay, but others, pretty fuzzy. ;D

Abena from Illinois, United States

It warms my heart too :-)) I like it, it looks kind of homely too.
