In walking distance...

Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 29 July 2013 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

...of our temporary 'home' (yesterday's post) on Grazer Straße,
this is in downtown Bad Ischl, Austria.
Several bridges cross the river from where we stayed to the village.
To see a view of one of them, click here.

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

Hardly a soul in sight. Do they have the practice of afternoon naps in Austria?

29 Jul 2013 6:36am

@Lai Chan See: No specifically as fas as I know, but it was hot ... more people on the shady side of the street.

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

I can "feel" the age of this one, right down to the red Pug 205 on the left :-)

29 Jul 2013 8:47am

@Curly: Aha ... thanks for the ID on that red car, Curly ... I shouldn't be surprised. ;D

Mhelene from Villiers-sur-Marne, France

Great composition of the street . I have photos from Austria in the sixties !!

29 Jul 2013 8:49am

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Excellent streetscape captured here with a beautifully-ornate building and its balconies that overlook the action below!!

29 Jul 2013 1:52pm

@Steven: Thanks, Steven ... I liked the buildings, but also the mountain so close in the background (across the river).

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

Looks like an interesting street to stroll along and shop or snack a bit.

29 Jul 2013 2:17pm

@Viewfinder: Yes, Glenn ... it was/is a delightful village. The Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria chose the town for his summer residence and his mother gave him the Kaiservilla as a wedding gift.

Don from Spokane, United States

A fine street scene of this interesting town. I liked seeing the bridge with your link.

29 Jul 2013 3:13pm

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

The town looks slow paced and relaxing.

29 Jul 2013 5:20pm

@Ruthiebear: I agree ... the pace of the Austrians seems 'softer' than some other European countries.

Loner from Wörgl, Austria

Hello, dear Judy! You should come back to Austria! Other cities are well worth seeing!

29 Jul 2013 5:21pm

@Loner: How I would love to, Sonja.
We were fortunate to see a number of other places in Austria, from Innsbruck to Salzburg, Melk, Vienna, Graz, Millstatt and the many villages in the Salzkammergut also. ;D

franz from Baden, Austria

i haven't been to bad ischl in some years now, but it wouldn't surprise me if this street was a pedestrian zone now ...

29 Jul 2013 7:16pm

@franz: Is the creation of "pedestrian zone(s)" the aim of your countrymen?

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

I spent some time in Austria, but not here. Lovely.

29 Jul 2013 8:06pm

@B. Thomas: Glad you got there too ... I could spend lots more time in both Austria & Switzerland if given half a chance. ;D
