TURMOIL: a storm in the east...

Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 28 September 2012 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

...about to overtake us... and it did. You can see the rain coming down in the lower right corner.
Spotlight image, September 28, 2012
I've chosen this as my favorite of the year because it represents the turmoil of our times.
In the US and Caribbean the deaths and devastation of Superstorm Sandy, the horrible negativity related to our US presidential election, and our major financial crisis can only be described as 'turmoil'. In other parts of the world it is war, senseless killings, governments toppling, weather-related disasters, etc.
I added the word "turmoil" to the title.

A fine capture of this developing rain storm. Somehow, this shot always represents the way I feel about our country sinking into more and more debt....the storm is coming, I fear.

28 Sep 2012 3:16pm

@Don: Oh, Don, I hear you about "sinking into more and more debt" ... right now we're hanging onto Max Lucado's plea for '40 Days of Prayer" for our country, on a countdown to the election.

Barbara from Florida, United States

You have captured the drama and how threatening our sky can look, even though we both know how quickly they can pass. Our flag standing strong in the storm is a nice symbolic touch. Congratulations on the Spotlight, Judy.

30 Sep 2012 4:55am

@Barbara: Thanks so much, Barb ... and your reply is right on target re: how quickly these threatening skies pass. Someone commented on my 'placement' of the flag, but hey, that's where it is in the front yard ... not really my doing when I grabbed the shot before getting wet out there. Thanks for the congrats!

rick from brisbane, Australia

Sensational image. I'm surprised out of all the comments that Don is the only one who sees something metaphorical about it. It is the first thing that jumped out at me.A magazine editor would love this photo to accompany an article I'm sure. Good work, Judy.

30 Sep 2012 9:47am

@rick: You brought a smile to my face ... thank you so much for your comment. In reply, I am so stressed over the negative media and online coverage related to this election that I could 'spit' ... not ladylike, I know, but true. This election is being bought by those on the left, regardless of what way we want to vote. Arghhhhhhh #^@$^Y#@ ... sorry! There is simply no way to get to the truth! "Truth in advertising?" What a joke.
