Purple Passion...

Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 16 August 2012 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

...as seen in a Mexican Petunia in our side yard. These blossoms drop daily, in the same way honeysuckle flowers do, but more bloom every morning, until the first frost!

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

We do have Petunia's too, but they are slightly different. Excellent framing and colors, nice work ! Have a lovely day :)

16 Aug 2012 9:05am

@Tamara: We have the usual Petunias too; these grow differently - very upright. Thanks for your comment.

The joys of having your own garden !! I´m just glad we have a balcony that we can plant up all through the year.Lovely shot and nice DOF.

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: The "joys of having your own garden" are fine for about eight months of the year, but it's pretty hot tending things in the summers! ;D

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

Slackwater - Don from Spokane, United States

I like the image of the back side of this flower. The color looks so good. Isn't it amazing that blooms can be so brief yet prolific enough cover the plant every day.

16 Aug 2012 3:13pm

@Slackwater - Don: Yes, the new blooms every morning are wonderful! ♥

franz from Baden, Austria

absolute beauty, never seen before (with MY eyes at least ...)

16 Aug 2012 4:24pm

@franz: They are unlike petunias, which are low growers; these grow upright, and every afternoon drop them to the ground. It is such a joy every morning when they put out new blossoms.

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

These MPs are great "fillers" too, when a space in the garden needs something not too tall or too sparse.

17 Aug 2012 2:18am

@Viewfinder: Thanks so much. Ours are sort of free-standing as we don't have a hedge or fence to use as a backdrop for a conventional garden bed.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Wonderful colour! Wonderful capture! A most inspired perspective! So clear and sharp!

17 Aug 2012 5:44am
