Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 18 April 2012 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio. the Brooksville Raid, in real color. Tell me which of the three you prefer.

SONY DSC-H5 1/400 second F/4.0 ISO 125 11 mm

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

I think the first two look more vintage in this case, although I usually like color shots the most.

@B. Thomas: I'm w/you re: the preference for color. In this case, the majority voted for the b 'n w version. ;D

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

I agree with Barbara the first two have a more realistic feel to them. The colour version shows clearly two plastic items that could not have been part of that era. A good study Judy! ;-)

Rick from Toronto, Canada

This is bright and vivid but I still love the middle (black and white) shot.

Don from Spokane, United States

I have to go with the color on this one. The color is such an important part of the image. I especially that dented mug.

18 Apr 2012 2:57pm

@Don: I usually fall for the color version of images, but the majority like the black & white version. ;D

franz from Baden, Austria

love the brilliant and varied colours here, judy, but all in all - and if my life depended on it - i'd go with the BW version, i.e. yesterday's !!

18 Apr 2012 5:45pm

@franz: Thanks, Franz ... I cannot disagree with you, although I'm always a sucker for color. ;D

Dokmateo from Madrid, Spain

Both are beautiful! Excellent series! Very interesting composition!

very nice & interesting!

Magda from Vancouver, Canada

I like the sepia for this image - brings in some character of 'old/vintage' :)

19 Apr 2012 2:16am

@Magda: Thanks for all of your recent comments, and for this one as well. Most preferred the b 'n w, but I still like this one too. ;D

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

I think I like the B&W the best.

19 Apr 2012 2:55am

@Steven: Thanks, Steven ... most everyone agreed with you! ;D

Don Levesque from Saint John, Canada

I agree with Eric C. In the two prior post, you couldn't make out that there were plastic items in the photo.
Well done Judy!

20 Apr 2012 9:56pm

@Don Levesque: Thanks, Don, I agree with both you and Eric. The final shot was just to show what I was working with.

Maria from California, United States

I am a color person, I must have color, even if a little bit of soft, muted definitely, this is my favorite...plastic or not
To me, black and white or other monochromatic images are ok, I accept them as part of art, I admire other people's images, but LIFE to me, has to be in color!

21 Apr 2012 12:53am

@Maria: I too, am a color person. In this particular image, depicting Civil War times, I could see it in sepia or B 'n W as a piece of the period, so I played w/it. ;D
