Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 11 September 2011 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio. honor the lives that were taken in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania on that horrible day.
The truly indomitable spirit of America we have seen in the days since 9/11/2001 is a testament to our strength and freedom.

New York World Trade Center - AA #11 and UA #175
Washington D.C. The Pentagon - AA #77
Pennsylvania - UA Flight #93

We must never forget!

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

That's a wonderful sky, but I wish there was a little more land to balance it Judy.
I remember that day as if it were only last year, not ten years ago.

@Curly: Thanks, Curly ... I guess at the time I was more intent on seeing the top of the flagpole over the 'sad' flag. I agree ... I know just where I was ten years ago now (8:26 am) and it was such a beautiful day, until...

This shot is gorgeous and a perfect reminder for us all! We are trying to help our children at school understand this horrible tragedy and many of them weren't even born yet....just so they can pass on the same to their children some day....

nice juxtaposition of beauty and horror of that sad day so long ago. absolutely an amazing capture of color, shadow, and light. nicely done! you know, in a way tragedies quite often teach us to not take stuff like this moment you have shared for granted. many traditions believe that sunrise and sunset are the two most important times of the day :)
(i mentioned in my response to your comment on my blog today that i would not have time to peruse your shots until the weekend. well, i decided to visit you right away and i'm glad i did. this shot, even tho is sad, is very uplifting and has energized me to make the most of the rest of the evening. thanks)

@Tim: Hi Tim ... thank you for your comment on this image for 9/11. It was so strong an image to me, and a message of hope, in a strange way. Sunrises and sunsets are powerful sights for Mike and me. ... Watching some of the TV coverage reminded us how thankful we were that our daughter had moved to NJ before 2001, as she had lived in Battery Park City, in an apt. bldg. right on the edge of the Hudson river, which showed in many of the 9/11 images.
