Farewell St. Augustine...

Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 9 September 2011 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

...for this trip.

"The St. Augustine Light is an active lighthouse on the north end of Anastasia Island, within the current city limits of St. Augustine, Florida. The tower, built in 1874, is owned by the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum, Inc. (SAL&M), a not-for-profit maritime museum and private aid-to-navigation. Open to the public, admissions support continued preservation of the Lighthouse and fund programs in maritime archaeology and education."

History of the lighthouse is here.

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

Some years ago, we visited St. Aug and climbed to the top of this wonderful lighthouse. It's pretty high up! You got a very nice pic of it here, Judy. Have enjoyed touring St. Augustine with you.

9 Sep 2011 5:50pm

@Viewfinder: It was very hot the day I took this, and being claustrophobic, I chose not to climb up. We drove past the parking area to a place we could turn around and under some large trees, I saw this view. I'm happy you've enjoyed this long series. ;D

Dokmateo from Madrid, Spain
