Battle weary...

SONY DSLR-A100 1/400 second F/5.6 ISO 800 315 mm (35mm equiv.)

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

DULCIE from Danville, CA, United States

A beautiful shot..wonderful portraits. I'll bet a lot of soldiers learned to sleep while the real war.
Superb series !!

@DULCIE: Thank you ... and you may be right about the "sleeping while standing" ... as brother fought brother, a horrible war.

Jeff from Pembroke Dock, Wales., United Kingdom

Battle weary ??..I think maybe he's sampled too much Southern Comfort.

19 Apr 2011 6:40pm

@Jeff: If Southern Comfort was created in 1874 in New Orleans, I have no idea how much of it was transported to the areas of Civil War battles ten years later. ... On this particular day, I don't believe any spirits were allows. ;D

franz from Baden, Austria

he looks sooo authentic - or at least what i think a civil war soldier looked like! great portrait, judy!

@franz: Thanks, Franz ... but the shirt and neckerchief would no doubt have been a bit more faded in reality.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

Relief at surviving another battle! Time for a quiet prayer! Well seen and captured Judy! ;-)
