January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

Mhelene from Paris, France

very beautiful composition and interesting to look at this series !

24 Feb 2011 10:16am

@Mhelene: Thanks a lot.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

If that rifle in the officers scabbard is an original Spencer repeating rifle it is worth a lot of money! A beautifully framed shot Judy! This is a wonderful series! ;-)

24 Feb 2011 1:22pm

@Eric Cousineau: I honestly don't know about the rifle; there were so many different ones and I didn't go to the gun tent on Suttlers' Row to price any.

Jen from Alpharetta, United States

wonderful composition!

24 Feb 2011 1:45pm

@Jen: Thanks, Jen.

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

This is a cracking good shot looking down the line.

24 Feb 2011 2:01pm

@Curly: Thank you; I was in a fairly good spot for photos this year.

Barbara from Florida, United States

Great profile of the soldiers taking aim and firing.
I imagine the sounds of this battle.
5***** for your series!

24 Feb 2011 2:40pm

@Barbara: thank you, Barb ... did you listen to any of the videos to hear the sounds? some are really good.

Franz from Baden, Austria

great perspective and compo! they look so confident because they know already they will win in the end ... ;-)) (thanks so much, judy, for your visits to my WS albums and for leaving so many favorable comments! glad the photos could recall some memories for you!)

24 Feb 2011 8:54pm

@Franz: this particular day the Union won, but here in the south, they have to take turns, so on Sunday, the confederates were 'scheduled' to win. <grin> ... Re: my visit to your site, we adored our month long stay in Austria. It is a beautiful country!

Richard from Duns, United Kingdom

Great capture of the moment again. Superb!

24 Feb 2011 10:00pm

@john4jack: Thanks, Jack.

Georgie from Sherwood Park, Canada

A superb composition and the puff of smoke is perfect!

25 Feb 2011 12:27am

@Georgie: Thanks, Georgie. I was hoping for the fire of the shot, but that's coming in another image. ;D

Ralph Jones from Detroit, United States

Once again the smoke takes this up a notch dramatically.

25 Feb 2011 2:13am

@Ralph Jones: As I just replied to the previous comment, I was hoping for the 'fire' of the shot, but that will come in another image. ;D

tyan from Singapore, Singapore

This is great - compo, the smoke, the timing. Well done, Judy.

SOUL AFLAME from United Kingdom

The puff of gunsmoke leaves a whiff of cordite in the air so detailed is the frame. Really great angle for the frame, Judy.

25 Feb 2011 4:33am

@SOUL AFLAME: Thank you, Paul.

Barbara from Florida, United States

I did go to the link you provided and looked at the videos. One group marching even had a golden retriever following along. He walked as if he knew he was just as much a part of it. Thanks, Judy.

25 Feb 2011 5:43am

@Barbara: Glad you saw and heard some of the action, Barb. That golden works along with the team of medics, even wearing saddlebags to carry supplies. We've seen him each year that we've gone.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

This is a beautiful grouping and a real make-believe! I vote for it!
