Many down and losing ground...

SONY DSLR-A100 1/500 second F/5.6 ISO 500 210 mm (35mm equiv.)

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

When they do reinactments of these raids they play out and dress with every detail. Each image you have captured is like a frame from an old movie. I like how you framed this shot and the perfect position of the flag.
Like I said before, this is an exceptional series you are presenting to us.

@Barbara: While taking shots, I just kept shooting. Some were obviously better than others, and for different reasons. Positioning the flag had to do with the off and on again breezes. ;D ... Thank you for your comments!

Monterey John from Hollister, CA, United States

Where's the battle flag? This is the stars and bars. Political correctness? Or am I jumping to a conclusion?

Anyway, this has been a marvelous series.

23 Feb 2011 12:04pm

@Monterey John: There were many flags used during the activities, so whether they were correct or not, I had no idea. There are four more shots and then I'll take a rest for a month, returning to these shots in April.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

This scene captures the gut wrenching fear of battle. Beautifully framed and composed Judy! ;-)

23 Feb 2011 12:40pm

@Eric Cousineau: Thanks, Eric. The sun went 'under' during this part of the battle, adding more drama and a sense of foreboding.

Jen from Alpharetta, United States

Great scene!

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Great series, but what a pity that I can see modern motors in this shot :-)

23 Feb 2011 6:34pm

@Curly: My error ... I should have cloned them out. ;(

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

Excellent, once again.

Georgie from Sherwood Park, Canada

Are my eyes fooling that snow? Or perhaps my eyes have seen just way TOO much snow lately! Wonderful composition!

23 Feb 2011 11:33pm

@Georgie: Not snow, but piles of sand. I do think you've seen enough white 'stuff' for a while! ;D

Carol from United States

You have so many great shots from here..........remind me.......I want to go next year with you.

24 Feb 2011 12:19am

@Carol: Hopefully you've put the date I sent you on your calendar, Carol!

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

Mimosa from Kedah, Malaysia

Perfect documentary shot in great exposure!

24 Feb 2011 4:13am

@Mimosa: Thank you very much.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Unfortunately...I cannot agree with Eric's least I, looking at this image, don't feel that gut wrenching fear of battle....but this has nothing to do with your shooting. Re-enactment goes well to a certain limit....

1 Mar 2011 2:32pm

@Japanalia: Seeing the men fall to the ground with all the smoke, and a little imagination, took me back to what the fear must have been like during the real thing, though.
