...and you may detect some morning cooking smoke hanging in the air.
I'm really impressed with the care they give their tents!

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

Tim from Ft. Worth, United States

nice contrast of color. very soft feeling. great shot!

10 Feb 2011 5:21pm

@Tim: The Confederates are always out in the open field, while the Union soldiers are in another area of large trees. Here's an earlier shot.

Jeff from Pembroke Dock, Wales., United Kingdom

I suppose it will be the closest we'll get to time travel,so keep documenting it, because your shots will be history one day...Not yet though. ;>)

10 Feb 2011 8:05pm

@Jeff: I hadn't thought about the "time travel," but you're so right! History for our grandkids, I guess. ♥

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

A great capture of this camp with their tents that stand out nicely in such clean whites!

10 Feb 2011 10:23pm

Bettina from Los Angeles, United States

Wonderful. I love reenactments. Their dedication is so admirable.

10 Feb 2011 11:12pm

@Bettina: Thanks, Bettina, and I couldn't agree more wholeheartedly!

Ralph Jones from Detroit, United States

Wow, that's a big camp. Just how big is this event?

10 Feb 2011 11:12pm

@Ralph Jones: That is only part of it, Ralph, with more out of sight but still n the Confederate camp. The Union camp is in a different field and I didn't get far into that one this year. It was announced that there were over 1,000 participants in the raid this year.

Georgie from Sherwood Park, Canada

Lovely composition. All the tents must have been quite a sight back in the day....

11 Feb 2011 12:50am

@Georgie: Thank you, Georgie. I'm sure the old tents weren't quite as clean, as that wasn't a priority back then.

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

They keep it as real as they can, don't they. Interesting camp.
