A weathered flag for Memorial Day

Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 31 May 2010 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

The wind was really whipping this flag on St. George Island, Florida, but it becomes a fitting tribute for all those who gave their lives so that we might have freedom. God Bless every one of them.
I wish all Americans a meaningful day!

PS: Tomorrow I will resume Viewfinder aka Glenn in his appeal for the pelicans. all shore creatures of Louisiana and the Gulf coast, and to boycott BP.

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

@mohammad hossein: Thank you very much.

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

I salute the service men and women who gave so much, and their families. Our freedoms are precious and from time to time must be defended. Sometimes the threat comes from without, but there are those times when the enemy is within. Those persons or corporations or even government officials who abuse their freedoms won at such a high cost, for the sake of making profit or gaining power at the expense of people or environment, are unworthy recipients of such a rare and special gift.

@Viewfinder: Thank you, Glenn, for your meaningful comment. We're filled w/emotions on many levels this weekend.

It may be slightly tattered on the edges but it's strength prevails. I too salute our servicemen who have given their all to defend our freedom. Glenn expressed it well.
Your image of our flag is beautiful.

@Barbara: Thanks, Barb ... and the 'tatters' just exemplify the struggles of our nation, IMO.
