...a foggy morning in Florida.

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

Céline from New York City, United States

Wow ! It looks like San Francisco ! So even in Florida you do have these !?

30 Jan 2010 7:41am

@Céline: Yes, Celine, especially in our colder months when the earth is warmer than the air.

Leena from Joensuu, Finland

But the photo is full of mystic :)
Relaxing weekend to you, Judy!

30 Jan 2010 9:06am

@Leena: Thank you, Leena ... and after seeing your 'ice swimming' my nose is running and I feel sniffly! :D

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

Good shot. It was kind of reminiscent of the upper Gulf Coast - you should see the fog that can form up there - I doubt if even SF can top it for sheer thickness. It is absolutely hazardous to drive in those conditions.

30 Jan 2010 12:53pm

@Viewfinder: Thanks, Glenn ... this fog wasn't nearly as thick as some we've seen, but it happens when the air temp drops as it has been doing. The worst fog we've ever driven in was on the Skyline drive after dark. Mike hung his head out the window to see the yellow line and I steadied the steering wheel with his guidance ... SCARY!!!

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

I love the feeling here Judy, funny I have one coming up that's like the reverse side...lol Ihope you're feeling better sweety x

30 Jan 2010 1:00pm

@Lorraine: Thanks, Lorraine ... I'll look for yours, and yes, I am feeling marginally better. xx

Betsy Barron from Chester Springs, PA, United States

pretty rare in your neck of the woods, no? great capture!

30 Jan 2010 1:29pm

@Betsy Barron: Thank you, Betsy ... and no, it's not rare at this time of year when the land is warmer than the air. Early morning airport runs to Tampa can be treacherous in January.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

If there is fog that means that there is warmer air aloft! Good news for you Judy! Nicely captured!! ;-)

30 Jan 2010 3:06pm

@Eric Cousineau: Thanks, Eric. We've been told the fog is because the land is warmer than the air, so now I'm wondering...?

Barbara from Florida, United States

I like the mysterious atmosphere fog creates. This fog is quite thick but amazing how quickly it can clear. I like the curve in the road and just the headlights in view.
Nice composition.

30 Jan 2010 3:22pm

@Barbara: Thanks, Barb; this is taken from our front yard ... I snapped it and then quickly went inside as I was in my robe! :D

john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United States

Very nice. I love the curves and the lights.

30 Jan 2010 4:33pm

@john4jack: Thank you, Jack.

Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

Awesome shot!!!!! I was on the beach at sunrise (then came home and napped!!!) !

30 Jan 2010 5:32pm

@Susan: Thanks, Susan ... hope you got some good shots!

Chris from South Jersey, United States

kind of a spooky fog - wondering what will come out of the fog......

Sandy Weston from Madison, Maine, United States

Cool shot.....with the headlights shinning through.....like this one.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

IF I were a driver...I'd never dream going out by car on such weather! Hope you did NOT!

31 Jan 2010 4:34am

@Japanalia: Oh yes ... I had to go to work. You just have to drive more slowly! :D

SOUL AFLAME from The bosom of Mother Nature, United Kingdom

Those alien eyes coming towards are teasing my pen hand, Judy. Gloriously atmospheric, and beautifully framed with the foreground foliage and subsequent layers back to those 'eyes'. Driving can be so treacherous in such conditions, though I do so, love to walk in the fog, there is an ambiance and clarity of air in my lungs that I really like.

31 Jan 2010 5:42am

@SOUL AFLAME: Thanks, Paul ... I'm smiling that it "teased you pen hand." I like the softness of the fog and while I don't love driving in it, it makes the world a smaller place and things slow from the frenetic pace. The moisture is so good for the lungs and the skin!
