Waiting for high tide in Nova Scotia...

Posted by
Judy aka L@dybug (Brooksville, FL, United States) on 13 August 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I loved the warm tones in this scene.

January 1st is around the corner, along with an end to my daily posts, at least for now.
Dementia is so debilitating and Hubby needs more of my time.

Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

I love them too. Wonderful shot Judy and a very fitting title.

13 Aug 2009 5:15am

@Marion: Thank you, Marion. I wish FL and NS were separated by so many miles! :D

Leena from Joensuu, Finland

Now so peaceful, but when water will come, it has power, I suppose.
Colors are charming!

Happy Thursday to you, Judy!

13 Aug 2009 6:15am

@Leena: Yes, the water obviously has power, but isn't too damaging unless it's a bad storm.
Happy Thursday to you too, Leena!

Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, Morocco

So beautiful ! The composition of this photo and the tones are superb !

MJ from Delaware, United States

great scene...earthy... lonely, peaceful

13 Aug 2009 11:30am

@MJ: Thanks so much, MJ.

Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

This is a beautiful shot.... colors and light are wonderful....and how wild to see this boat tied up, on land!!

13 Aug 2009 1:30pm

@Susan: Land at low tide, and water when the tide comes in. The Bay of Fundy tides are among the highest in the world.

Barbara from Florida, United States

Outstanding! Very nice composition. The extreme tides are incredible. I like how this lone boat sits waiting to be nourished by the sea.
I love this shot.

13 Aug 2009 1:35pm

@Barbara: Thanks, Barb. The boat just sat still, waiting for it's portrait to be taken. :D
Wish I'd had my DSLR then!

Scott Schilling from San Martin, United States

Wow, this is fantastic Judy! Amazing that the tide comes in so far! I love this composition and the sky in this is incredible! The boat tied up on the land has a ton of visual interest also! Great!

13 Aug 2009 1:42pm

@Scott Schilling: Thank you so much, Scott; your words warm my heart. I do wish I'd had my better camera back then, but I'm happy I spotted the scene and captured it.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

I like the solitude of the boat (made tight on both sides) under that lovely sky!

13 Aug 2009 2:39pm

@Japanalia: I liked that solitude also ... and was fortunate with the soft light.

tyan from Singapore, Singapore

i love it too, such an idyllic scene!I think this would look great being enlarged and framed in the living room:)

13 Aug 2009 3:06pm

@tyan: It could look good framed if it was a higher resolution, but my older camera didn't have that. :(

Chris from South Jersey, United States

wow - this could almost be a painting with those beautiful subdued colors.....great composition as well....

13 Aug 2009 4:13pm

@Chris: Thanks, Chris ... the boat was interesting and the setting so pretty.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

13 Aug 2009 6:35pm

@Lorraine: Let's do it ... but on second thought, it's a longggg, cold, damp winter! :D

Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United States

Incredible light in this photo, Judy, ....just beautiful....very dramatic shot. Reminds me of another Andrew Wyeth painting :)

13 Aug 2009 7:50pm

@Lambspun: I can't take credit for the light; that was a gift, but I appreciate your comment. :D

cindy brown from United States

Great shot!!

13 Aug 2009 11:01pm

Bookfool from Mississippi, United States

Lovely. Looks like it's going to be a while before the water gets that far, though!

14 Aug 2009 12:32am

@Bookfool: 'Bout four to five hours, I'd guess. :D
