"Stand in the tree, Nana?" ... and she did!

Soon to graduate from college, this is our eldest granddaughter, Bridget.
She is our pancreatic cancer survivor and is as sweet inside as she looks.

PS: Thank you everyone for your comments yesterday!

Judy, great shot! She looks tough also - pancreatic cancer is a tough one and she look like she is happy and healthy and doing great!! Keep up the great work!

@Scott Schilling: Thank you very much, Scott. Bridget was soooooo blessed that her baseball-sized tumor was encapsulated. Between God and Dr. Scott Adzick, they worked miracles, and we still have our Bridget! xx

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

I was thinking MS UNIVERSE 2009...takes after her grandma ;)

17 Apr 2009 11:34am

@Lorraine: She's such a blend of her parents ... I just love her to pieces! :D

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

Well I can see she has your family's good looks. And she has courage and determination, and a beautifully warm smile, which seems to radiate her inner warmth to all. Bridget has been through a lot, but that can mean she will have much to give. Is she still on track for medical school? I imagine she would be a wonderful health care provider.

17 Apr 2009 11:39am

@Viewfinder: Thank you so much, Glenn; she does have the courage and determination ... you would love her!
She is on track for medical school, however her health history is providing a huge challenge; she's in an appeal process and 'holding'. Prayers are welcomed.

Barbara from Florida, United States

Always with a beautiful smile. Here strength shines through. You can see it, she will go far in her career ahead.
I can understand how proud you and her parents must be.

17 Apr 2009 12:13pm

@Barbara: A month from now we'll be in D.C. for her graduation from Georgetown ... we can't wait!

john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United States

Outstanding, but she should be ashamed of herself having a belly that flat!!! She is the first individual that wasn't simply a statistic that I have seen who survived pancreatic cancer; what an incredible blessing. That even trumps 50 years of marriage, which is saying one whale of a lot.

17 Apr 2009 12:29pm

@john4jack: Bless you, Jack ... we should have bellies that flat, right? :D

As I wrote elsewhere, we were soooooo blessed that her baseball-sized tumor was encapsulated, and between God and Dr. Scott Adzick, miracles were performed. She wants to go to medical school, but her medical history is a hurdle not yet tackled; she's in an appeals process and we're praying!!!

Laurie from New Jersey, United States

Beautiful portrait. She is just lovely. She has been through a lot and her strength is obvious.

@EYES WIDE SHUT: Thanks, Paul.

john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United States

With what she has been through, I'd bet she would make a great doctor. And on that flat belly, my wife just finished letting out all of my dress slacks a couple of inches (it's really a waste of time and energy; I wear Levis even to church, except for Christmas and Easter; but with the sunrise service, I got to wear Levis on Easter as well this year).

17 Apr 2009 4:36pm

@john4jack: Thanks, Jack, or maybe I should call you Mr. Levi ... :D

Carol from United States

Can't wait to [see] graduation pics of her.

17 Apr 2009 5:48pm

@Carol: Same here! :D

john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United States

I really should have stock in Levi.
