My own old pharmacy jars...

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 30 September 2009 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

Monday's image was of jars in an old pharmacy at Boot Hill in Dodge City, Kansas. There's lots of history there.
These are jars on my kitchen windowsill, given me by an elderly retired pharmacist in Connecticut.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

This is nicely composed with different sizes, different colours and the light trying to peek from behind! I don't know why, but all these old jars are always more attractive than the modern ones!

@Japanalia: I agree, the old items just warm my heart. We're so happy to have the old telephone, these jars, my g-g-g-grandfather's pewter plate from the Civil War, my grandmother's glass hand grenade, Mike's grandfather's painting, ivories, etc. Old items have a history and love passed down with them. ♥

Interesting little jars and collection. So unique to have. They have made it a long way. Do you know how old they might be.
Great display with the various colors and transparency.

@Barbara: Hi Barb. I do not know how old these jars are, but Charlie was a pharmacist in the early 30's and the jars could have been inherited from pharmacists before him. You can see that that glass labels are damaged, but that doesn't spoil their value for me. ♥

Your choice of putting the colorful liquids inside each one makes them into a rainbow set in jars.

30 Sep 2009 12:29pm

@Viewfinder: A little food coloring in the water adds a lot. :D

Veronelle from Lens, France

nice primary colours

@Lorraine: I'm smiling at your comment ... no elixirs in these bottles ... just food coloring in the water. :D

Those are great! I wish I could find some of those in the woods. We've found other bottles and stuff but nothing like that. They are all individuals :)

@Lambspun: Wow, I'd be amazed at a find like this in the woods.
