Our last full-family reunion...

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 6 September 2009 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Bk row: Our three children w/spouses; David, Curtis & Susan.
Grandchildren: Bridget (ctr), Quinlin, Kayla & Fiona.

They came from Denver and New Jersey to spend a wonderful time together for five whole days, a blessing for sure. This photo is so precious, because David died in March 2008. Kayla, on my lap, is David's daughter; Quinlin & Fiona are Curt's and Bridget is Susan's daughter.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

Fantastic shot! Who is hiding at the very back?! ;) Love all those happy faces!

6 Sep 2009 8:07pm

@Magda: That's Curt's wife, Kristin, who is hiding. How we wish we still had David with us; his death was devastating.

Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United States

Look at the happy faces on all you guys :) So wonderful! You have a very nice looking family there....you must be so proud!

6 Sep 2009 8:30pm

@Lambspun: That was such a happy occasion, and a wonderful memory. It's especially special due to David's premature death.

SCOTT F. SCHILLING from San Martin, United States

Wonderful photograph and everyone has a great smile! Wonderful times and I am glad you have this with David in it also!

7 Sep 2009 4:40am

@SCOTT F. SCHILLING: Thank you, Scott ... we're happy to have this one with David in it too, as you can imagine.

Barbara from Florida, United States

This is a very happy family portrait, and I like all are in matching blue t-shirts for the event. Indeed a treasure of what this image holds of memories. Photography is a beautiful thing to let us hang onto visual memories.
A wonderful photo of all of you together.

7 Sep 2009 5:38pm

@Barbara: Thank you, Barb ... all the shirts were navy, however different manufacturers and different colors, which didn't show up until we saw the photos. I wanted their faces to be the focus and not what we were each wearing. I had made the little girl's dresses, which was fun, and they thought they looked like twins, which was cute. This memory is priceless, especially since it cannot ever be duplicated again. ♥

Barbara from Florida, United States

I noticed those two adorable matching dresses, I should have known. They both look cute in them.

8 Sep 2009 3:12am

Markela from Athens, Greece

I got misty-eyed when I saw the photo and read what you wrote about it, Judy....May God bless all of you, and give you strength (the loss of a family member is always so painful)...Great family portrait, I love the idea of the uniforms to emphasize the faces...What a happy family!! :-D

8 Sep 2009 8:54am

@Markela: Thank you, Markela. No parent is ever prepared to lose one of their children; we're just thankful we had David for 45 years.

Shirley from Green City, United States

This is a beautiful family portrait.

20 Sep 2009 12:40am

@Shirley: Thank you ... sad that is the last we will have with all of us, but life is what it is.
