A favourite...Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 15 August 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. I had to use the Canadian spelling because this Nova Scotia image is one that warms my heart ... and the Canadian blood in my veins! Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits. ---~--- Philippians 4:13 'We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.' ... <*}}}><

Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanDon't we all look forward to autumn and the colours and the mellow light and the feeling of peace! I DO!!! Your image just makes me sigh with pleasure and expectation! 15 Aug 2009 5:15am @Japanalia: Comments on this photo are interesting to me. While you are looking forward to autumn because of summer's heat (as we are here in Florida also), it was always the preface to our cold, damp and often bitter winter weather in New England. I see Leena speaks of not "waiting so eagerly" for the weather to change. Of course her summers are not so hot but winters are very LONG and very COLD. Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaOh you mean favourite as opposed to favorite. I think we pretty well use favorite. I think , I am not sure. I am so mixed up. Well American neighbour, oops neighbor, the colours (colors) are wonderful. Great shot dear Judy. 15 Aug 2009 5:22am @Marion: Grinning...I use words like out & about to remind me of your spellings. You live so close to the border that it may be confusing to many. I wonder what the children are learning in school on these spelllings. tyan from Singapore, SingaporeI always wished i could keep one of those maple leaves as a momento.but never had the opportunity to go there. THis is lovely!:) 15 Aug 2009 6:37am @tyan: Thank you so much, Tyan. Maybe someday you'll get to Canada. Leena from Joensuu, FinlandSo, Canadian use British spelling, I see! 15 Aug 2009 8:42am @Leena: Yes, in Canada they use 'ou' in many places that we only use the 'o'. If you think of it, do ask your grandchildren what they're learning now. I'm happy you enjoyed the photo, but I do understand that you do now want to rush toward winter. Right now our temperature outside is 93F = 34C ... too hot! :D Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, Moroccowow...so beautiful colors like a painting ! 15 Aug 2009 9:06am Miss Ruthie from Glendale California, United StatesHi, Happy Saturday! Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United StatesOh my, Judy those leaves are so beautiful! We have so many maples around us which are beautiful too but not as many birches......and the red is something else. Really striking shot! 15 Aug 2009 2:34pm @Lambspun: Thank you ... I think the White Birch added so much contrast to this shot. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaHa my sweet .5 Canuck, I love Maple Trees in the Fall more than just about anything...I love this, beautiful photo Judy on this high heat, high humidity day, I love it even more x 15 Aug 2009 3:33pm @Lorraine: It's 93F = 34C here at 3:30 in the afternoon; time for a siesta as it's too hot to do anything outside! susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesAhhhhh, to see the changing of the leaves......this is a wonderful reminder of what i've missed for a few years...... 15 Aug 2009 4:00pm @susan: Me too ...... we're hoping we might get to see some color in the GA mountains in October, but we may be too early. Time to get out the LL Bean catalog. 15 Aug 2009 9:59pm @njsux: Yup ... LL Bean is ready for what you will need up there! :D Bookfool from Mississippi, United StatesI can see why that's a favourite. Or a favorite. LOL You have Canadian blood? I love Canadians. My son is marrying into a family with a bunch of Canadian ties and they're thinking about holding the wedding in Canada. He said it's an excuse to travel. Nova Scotia's on my wishlist of places to go. 15 Aug 2009 11:58pm @Bookfool: I do have Canadian blood; my ancestors came from England & Scotland, married in Quebec and raised 8 children there. Three went to Montana, 2 stayed in Quebec, and 3 went to Massachusetts. My g-grandfather was one of those in MA. Anina from Auckland, New ZealandLovely shot! 16 Aug 2009 1:13am @Anina: Thank you, Anina ... and what a pretty name! Barbara from Florida, United StatesI like how you composed this and the light tree trunks with the explosion of red leaves. I've really missed fall since living in Florida, this certainly makes me want to experience again. Stunning, Judy. 16 Aug 2009 4:08am @Barbara: My grandparents had two clumps of white birch in their front yard and I've always loved them. To see the red maples and all the birch was a thrill. I do hope we get to see a little color in Oct. in the GA mountains. I miss it too. Marilla from Turku, FinlandLovely bright red! It's sad to see summer fading but glad to see autumn and it colOUrs coming. Thanks for visiting my blog! 16 Aug 2009 2:04pm @Marilla: Thanks, Marilla.
