Looking back...

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 1 August 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Starting out for our walk at 6:30 am, we looked from the street behind us, at the sky over our home; this is what we saw. I kept Belle with me while Mike ran back to get my little point 'n shoot. Thank you, Honey!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

Magda from Vancouver, Canada

Wow! Magnificent shot! So much drama!
What a great hubby you have ;)

1 Aug 2009 5:06am

@Magda: Thanks, Magda, for this and your other comments. The sky here was so beautiful, but I knew if we all turned around and went back around the block, Belle would be too tired out to continue. (Her congestive heart failure is taking its toll.) Mike was the willing 'fetcher' in this case and I'm 'keepin' him! :D

Eleftheria from Athens, Greece

Wonderful! Great sky!

1 Aug 2009 9:21am

@Eleftheria: Thank you, Sweetie!

Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, Morocco

Wow ,impressiv sky and a very beautiful composition !

@Marie-Hélène Ammor: Thank you, Marie.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

My, my! You're an early bird, Judy! I wish I could do the same......but I NEVER manage! But I wonder if I could get such a lovely sky even at 6:30AM here.....most of the time the sky is flat!

1 Aug 2009 10:50am

@Japanalia: Oh, but you see, I'm not really the early bird you think I am! The humidity and high temperatures make it very difficult to walk after the sun starts rising in the sky, so the only way to beat that is to set the alarm and get going before we're really awake!
Those clouds are to the south and out over the Gulf of Mexico, so rain may have been moving in. As the sun came up in the east, it lit them, giving this dramatic display.

Betty from New Jersey, United States

Very dramatic sky and such beauty for your morning walk!

1 Aug 2009 11:17am

@Betty: Thanks, Betty ... I'm happy were outside to see it.

Chris from South Jersey, United States

what a beautiful summer morning sky - love that early morning light on the clouds......I am never awake enough to take pictures at 6:30.....great shot.

1 Aug 2009 11:56am

@Chris: It's called 'beating the heat' here in Florida, not necessarily by choice. <grin>

Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

what a great sky you had today !!! and thanks to mike for letting you catch it!!! 6:30, ey???? a bit too early for me on a weekend!! (or any other day of the week, for that matter!!)

1 Aug 2009 1:40pm

@Susan: I'm being repetitious, but as you know, it's one way to beat the heat! :D

Barbara from Florida, United States

Wow! Very dramatic sky. I think we are all pleased Mike went back for your camera. The colors are beautiful. I love the setting and composition, it has charm.

1 Aug 2009 1:52pm

@Barbara: Thanks, Barb. Several other mornings I tucked the little camera in my pocket thinking I might find a pretty shot, but no luck ... they always appear when we're not prepared, right? :D

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

Your little point and shoot did the job. What a beautiful Florida morning sky! Your home looks so inviting...

1 Aug 2009 2:04pm

@Viewfinder: Thanks, Glenn. The back of the house would be better shot at an angle, but I wasn't paying any attention to that, focusing totally on the sky! :D

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

Oh look at that Divine sky and again that collaboration between you and Mike brings out the best wow

1 Aug 2009 3:26pm

@Lorraine: Thanks, Lorraine. As for the team efforts, we've had lots and lots of years of practice! xx

Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United States

Wow Judy, almost looks like smoke in the background. Very ominous. Clouds lend some much mood to photos and take us back when we had days that looked the same.

1 Aug 2009 4:55pm

@Lambspun: I love to watch the changing sky, but we cannot always be outdoors looking. :D

Srujan Chennupati from Hyderabad, United States

WOW Judy! This is a "Dream" shot. Very beautifully composed. Beautiful shot.
