Joy riding...

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 27 July 2009 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Curt took Quinlin for a canoe trip down the Weeki Wachee River last Saturday, and through two rain showers. They saw two Manatees with their calves and lots of fish, but there was no place for Nana to get photos. Later Fiona (left) and her friend, Amanda, went for a ride after the rain stopped.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

You did great on capturing this one, Judy. Even though you probably had to step into some brush. My first thought was were you certain there weren't any alligators lurking there?
This outing looks like fun and I especially like hearing about the Manatee's.

@Barbara: Thanks, Barb ... and no, I was on dry land, just zooming in. :D
They saw no gators!!!

Scott Schilling from San Martin, United States

this is a great shot and looks like a lot of fun!! I love the name of that river!

@Scott Schilling: The Indian names are fascinating in Florida; people forget about the early Indians of the southeast.

Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, Morocco

tyan from Singapore, Singapore

wow, what wonderful exposure it is for the girls! Many singaporean kids have no exposure to such nature and great adventure because parents are too busy working round the year.Plus scarcity of resources here:)

@tyan: I could tell you a story that you would find unbelievable, but let me say our son struggles from week-to-week financially, while working with children who need help at his job. We're thrilled to see him borrow our canoe and take the time out with his family to have FUN. Life is SHORT ... we must give our children a sense of JOY! <}}}><

Leena from Finland

Those moments are great in children`s life, they will speak about them again and again, I guess. And the photo makes it sure, that they will remember it after years.

@Leena: Thank you, Leena. I hope they remember these special times .... they're so important!

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

I'm already familiar with this shot that is very well taken! What I'd suggest...get Fiona hooked on taking pictures, this would be quite THE experiment!

28 Jul 2009 3:18am

@Japanalia: I'd love to get Fiona "hooded on taking pictures" ... we'll have to work on that. :D
