"Come to me, Chippy."

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 13 May 2009 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

I chose this from the archives because this weekend her 'baby' graduates from college.
This is an all time favorite taken at Raquette Lake, NY, on our very first family camping trip. Susan was so very patient.
Time certainly does fly ... this 'feels' like just a 'few' years ago.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

Amazing shot Judy - that is awesome to be able to get the squirrel to eat out of a hand! Have a great day!

13 May 2009 5:38am

@Scott Schilling: Chipmunks are notoriously skittish, so to have this one come to such a young child was an awesome sight.

Magda from Vancouver, Canada

Awww how precious! Time sure flies by so quickly....

13 May 2009 5:50am

@Magda: I don't know who was more tickled, Susan or me (with camera in hand)! :D

tyan from Singapore, Singapore

Wow.Squirrel eating from Susan's hands! She is patient and definitely gentle, the animals can feel it! My boys are at this age now,and i wish they don't grow up! But they will and your little girl is already a mother herself! But these memories will always be cherished in our hearts:)

13 May 2009 5:51am

@tyan: This is a tiny Chipmunk - half the size of a squirrel and it was the first time in my life that I had seen one come this close to a human, no less a child. It is interesting when I realize that Susan's patience showed here just as it has through the 22 years of raising her daughter. ♥

Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South Africa

Srujan Chennupati from Hyderabad, United States

A very nostalgic shot. You never know how the kids grow up so fast. I feel like my son was born just yesterday and he's already 2 and a half years old.

13 May 2009 5:08pm

@Srujan Chennupati: Yes, I just checked back and remember "Suhith in a mango grove."
Just take lots and lots of photos!

Bookfool from Mississippi, United States

We used to feed the chipmunks in Colorado, on our vacations, and this looks very much like our photos (although my sister has all the photos, so I just have memories of them). Time does fly. Lovely capture.

13 May 2009 5:46pm

@Bookfool: We saw chipmunks in Rocky Mountain National Park ... sounds like you might want to borrow photos from your sister and scan some. ♥

Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

How very precious this is Judy. For sure time flies by so fast it leaves us breathless. :>)

@Marion: This weekend is going to be an emotional one seeing our daughter watch her daughter graduation from college with Honors!

Leena from Joensuu, Finland

Congratulations to "her baby" and a plenty of luck in her/his future!
And fine to see, that Susan did not be afraid of an animal.

13 May 2009 6:16pm

@Leena: Thank you, Leena ... we're off to have a wonderful weekend in Washington, D.C.
Back Monday!
