Silly Lily

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 5 May 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Not really a silly photo, but a variation on the natural.
Which do you prefer - full color or B 'n W?

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

Bill Brown from California, United States

I agree, both are very nice. I'm a b&w enthusiast, however, color is better for this image.

5 May 2009 7:28am

Barbara from Florida, United States

It is a tough decision, but I seem to prefer the color version.
The gold pollenated center have beautiful color and detail. The light has more value to the image in the color too.

@Barbara: You join the majority, Barb, along with me!

It has to be the colour for me, tis absolutely beautiful Judy.

5 May 2009 4:10pm

@MaryB: Thank you, Mary ... I agree on the colored version.

Carol from United States

I really like the collage......shows quite the difference. If we had not seen the color we would love the black and white, but color is better here. Wonder if color would still be better if the collage was made with the color on the bottom....sometimes the first you see is the favorite.....hummmmm food for thought. Either way....lovely photo.

5 May 2009 4:47pm

@Carol: You have a point about which should have been on top; maybe next time I'll try that.
Thanks, Carol.

Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United States

Umm... both? For different reasons. The BW is slick and elegant. The color version is so alive.

6 May 2009 12:56am

@Viewfinder: Thanks, Glenn. My heart really prefers the one in color, but I found looking at both that they each had merit.

jenifriend from olathe, United States

i prefer the one in color. the natural lighting maintains smooth lines but still allows the color in the center of the flower to pop.

6 May 2009 4:34am

@jenifriend: Thank you very much - I appreciate your comment.

Marion from Cincinnati, United States

Judy, I prefer the color shot! It shows much more detail. As a matter of fact, I would blow it up and hang it on my wall - it is that pretty! :)

7 May 2009 1:13pm

@Marion: You join the majority, Marion ... and I have so many I'm not sure which to blow up! xx

Eline Walda from Veenendaal, Netherlands

I like both versions. I'm a fan of black & white pics. But in this case I think you make a stronger statement with the color shot.

8 May 2009 2:44pm

@Eline Walda: As you probably read, you are in the majority. ♥
