hi nana! In traditional chinese medicine, pears when boiled or steamed, are known to reduce phlegm.I am desperate,so am trying everything, including putting fruits in my soup,LOL:)

27 Apr 2009 1:07pm

@tyan: VERY interesting. Because of a condition I have, I cannot eat anything that has acid, such as citrus fruits so abundant here in Florida. Pears are the ONLY suggested fruits and I love them when we can get good ones. Today Mike came home with three 'gems' for me.

I love using fruits in salads (grapes, apple, pears), stuffing pork w/prunes, etc., and there's no earthly reason they can't be used in soups also. Now I'll think of my pears as wonderful Chinese medicine! xx
