"Billboard from Bethlehem"Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 7 April 2009 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. Mike & I are delighted to share two projects belonging to Mike's nephew, "I Wage Peace" & the new "Billboard from Bethlehem." "On Memorial Day Week End of 2007, I Wage Peace founder and Connecticut native Bruce Barrett, with artist Russell Rainbolt, and Documentary film maker Tom Jackson, joined 100 Israeli and Palestinian children and former Israeli soldiers and former Palestinian armed resisters to hand paint a giant 48-foot long Peace mural in the West Bank of occupied Palestine. The sign was received at religious services in the West Bank and Israel, then shipped to the United States to a Connecticut mosque, a synagogue, and a church, and finally posted on Connecticut Interstate I-95 and RT 84." This 60-minute documentary is being shown in houses of worship and from his own church's site in CT, "Bruce A. Barrett, a member of the Woodmont United Church of Christ in Milford and owner of Barrett Communications, conceived the project as a way of promoting active non-violence amidst the long struggle in the Holy Land. "For the children of Israel and Palestine," he says, peace is a matter of life and death in the here and now." Staff members at Barrett Communications sketched the giant banner in preparation for its painting in Bethlehem, and Barrett himself worked alongside the local residents as they painted." Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits. ---~--- Philippians 4:13 'We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.' ... <*}}}><
