Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South Africa

Great detail on his body Judy...he looks rather large and intimidating!

25 Mar 2009 9:52am

@Mandy Provan: "Rather large" are the key words!

Chris from South Jersey, United States

Jeff stole my smart-alec line!!! How about......
"You see why you should use sun screen when outside - if you don't your skin will end up like this!"
Great shot - scary creature....

25 Mar 2009 11:11am

@Chris: Good tag line ... I should have asked you to help me with my text! :D

Jen from Alpharetta, United States

Can't blame him one bit...hope he had on sunscreen LOL!!!!
Great shot Judy

25 Mar 2009 2:18pm

@Jen: I think they'd need a power-sprayer unit to get it onto him! :D

Lesley from Lincoln, United States

Oh, how I wish I could get out in the sun right now. It's cold again!
Nice capture, Judy. I think he's got his eye on you!

25 Mar 2009 3:36pm

@Lesley: It's another beautiful day here in Florida, after an unusually cold winter (relative to the norm).
I'll try to send you some sunshine!

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

Oh Wow you're an impressive lady, you know that...but then again he probably recognized a good-not-to eat- soul ;) bravo

25 Mar 2009 4:05pm

@Lorraine: He knew, if he 'thinks' ... that I was SAFELY behind the fence. I've heard their unforgettable mating sounds and I can tell you I do NOT want to be anywhere near one when 'he' is in the mood! :D

observing from North West, United Kingdom

That old dinosaur is just waiting for a victim to come past, a nicely detailed image.

25 Mar 2009 4:21pm

@observing: Thank you, Mike ... and you're absolutely correct! :D

peter from new york, United States

looks like he could use some spf 500! haha

25 Mar 2009 4:32pm

@peter: How true! Thanks!

Barbara from Florida, United States

I'm impressed, Judy and I think this gator is too, he even has smile lines.
This guy looks rather lazy and as I said yesterday plump.
A great capture for sure.

25 Mar 2009 5:37pm

@Barbara: It's not a shot in nature as yours are, but it's the only way up here (only an hour north of you) that we get to see them 'up close and personal'. We were surprised that they'd removed the feeding station, but maybe it's more humane.

Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

it's just bizarre how they look so prehistoric!!!! nice catch!!

25 Mar 2009 5:53pm

@Susan: A state 'treasure' if treated properly ... thanks!

Bookfool from Mississippi, United States

25 Mar 2009 6:28pm

@Bookfool: You're VERY observant! :D

Querques from Palleja, Spain

Oh yes, good one.
My daughter loves them and now it's jumping round the computer saying let me see!!!!

25 Mar 2009 7:07pm

@Querques: Oh, that's funny ... so let her see him safely from this distance! There's another photo on March 24th. :D

Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United States

I swear... he has his eyes on you... waiting for a snack :)

25 Mar 2009 8:20pm

25 Mar 2009 11:25pm

@Betty: ABSOLUTELY!!! No way would I put myself in danger with this creature!

JJ from Jersey City, United States

Cool shot he is clearly enjoying the sun, I like the perspective looks like your right beside it

26 Mar 2009 1:58am

@JJ: I assure you, I was NOT right beside him!

PD from Overland Park, Kansas, United States
