Christmas Wishbone

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 31 December 2008 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

I want to share this final ornament, a special wishbone, still wearing it's original bow.
Back in September of 1959, my mother roasted a turkey to serve to guests at home following Mike’s and my wedding reception. Mother then saved the wishbone, which she and my father had broken (I don't know who got the top piece, and their wish). She then painted it with nail polish and taped the two pieces together - see the tape? She surprised me with it on our first Christmas in 1959. ... Therefore, this is the 51st year it has adorned our tree! ♥

Today, Mike & I wish you all a safe New Year's Eve!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

The best ornament EVER! I am absolutely amazed. Your mother had a fabulous idea. Just the way it is, painted and taped it has it's own marvelous story.
This one is really clever. 5 stars to your mother and another 5 to you for keeping and capturing it.
Happy New Year! One filled with Blessings and "Good Luck" : )

@Barbara: Dear Barbara, what a sweet comment ... I really appreciate your words. I've probably cleaned and dried 500 wishbones over the years; some were used on gifts. Some are still in the cupboard.

We send Happy New Year blessings to you and Bob too - Judy & Mike
