Painted scene...Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 12 December 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. The same tree we have today, but taken at our previous home, where we lived in 1994. Even here, the glass icicles show up. Mike had them on his tree as a boy, so when we spotted some small ones in Vermont way back in the early 70's, we purchased the last box they had. Over the years I've found others to add to his collection. Tomorrow is Anthony Lambert's "Where I Live" challenge; it should be fun! Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits. ---~--- Philippians 4:13 'We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.' ... <*}}}><

Jeff from Pembroke Dock, United KingdomLove it ,just like a posh Christmas card, especially like the table lamp on the right,is this the one you said Mike had made ?...Enjoy your Weekend. :>) 12 Dec 2008 5:31am @Jeff: Thanks, Jeff ... and no, that smaller lamp is also made of stoneware, but it is one that belonged to Mike's mother, so it is even older than the one Mike made. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesI love the icicles! What a wonderful collection! This looks like a Christmas card! Beautiful, Marion. 12 Dec 2008 11:12am @Betty: Thank you, Betty ... and for the name change, though not necessary. :D @Veronelle: Thank you, Veronelle. A brightly lit bit of Americana Christmas, personalized and hospitably inviting us all inside. 12 Dec 2008 2:12pm @Viewfinder: Ohhh ... <blush> ... you are so kind, Glenn. We miss our lovely home, but time and needs required a major down-sizing. This shot is a wonderful memory of where we were at a different time in our lives. Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaI love it Judy and totally agree with Glenn. By the way, the name change wasn't so bad was it?? :>)) I think it just shows how similar our pictures are sometimes although yours seem to be much more professional. This is really a nostalgic and magical picture .......love Christmas. 12 Dec 2008 6:15pm @Marion: <Giggle> ... no, the name change was NOT a bad thing; I'll be confused with you any day! ;D I think we both choose to post photos in line with our value systems - some right on target, some just for fun, but never crossing that invisible 'line'. Let's not compare what is or what is not "professional". Once one accepts money for something, some consider that as making you professional. Who knows??? <grin> xx Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdomvery nice shot, looking in from out in the cold 12 Dec 2008 8:14pm @Alun Lambert: Well, Alun, it doesn't get very cold here in Florida, but you're right ... this is looking in from outside. This year's tree (posted on the 13th) is our 50th, which is hard to believe. As a firefighter, Mike saw house fires caused by real trees, so ours has been an artificial tree for many years. We started with only a few ornaments, and unbreakable ones when the children were young, keeping any glass ones up high, out of their reach. As they grew older they helped with the decorating and our tradition grew. ... I think you are ready to begin your traditions with your beautiful boys for next year!
