1974 Christmas in the kitchen...Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 9 November 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. Another Sunday image from the archives; here we are, standing in the kitchen with the cabinets that Mike built behind us. Mike's funny shirt was another creation that came from my sewing machine - as did my dress. Ladybugs were making their appearances in my life ... as you can see on the Formica backsplash. Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits. ---~--- Philippians 4:13 'We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.' ... <*}}}><

Mike is sitting here and said, "I had the one tool that allowed me to do much of the carpentry ... my DeWalt radial table saw, purchased in 1954." ... Firefighters were underpaid back in those days so we did lots of things to make ends meet ... and it was the glue in our marriage! Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaA great image. Mike is a very talented guy even if he used to wear polka dot shirts! 9 Nov 2008 2:03pm @Michael Skorulski: DID, is the operative word ... and is glad that era is over! <grin> Jeff from Pembroke Dock, United KingdomSnap!! Your story brings back a lot of our memories...But I only had a hand saw,Pat was a good carpenter though. ;>)) 9 Nov 2008 2:09pm @Jeff: Hi Jeff ... I'm happy to hear this is bringing back memories for you and Pat ... sorry you only had a hand saw! <grin> Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaWell WOW love the polka dots, what adorable memories you have and I really envy your 'housekeeping' abilities :) 9 Nov 2008 2:34pm @Lorraine: Life is made of memories and we certainly have many.........."housekeeping?" That doesn't include dusting, I hope ... I'm a total failure in that vein! :D Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United StatesTell Mike that the shirt brings the colour of his eyes out... hehehehe.. you are a great seamstress... and proud Mike wore his shirt... hugs to ya... 9 Nov 2008 2:47pm @Fliss: Thanks, Fliss ....... he has always been such a good sport ...... and I love him all the more for that! ♥ Barbara from Florida, United StatesYou are both fortunate to have each other and all of these wonderful memories including that polka dot shirt. Wonderful memories you have shared. 9 Nov 2008 3:59pm @Barbara: The more I dig into the archives to find and choose between the photos, the more nostalgic I become! ;D Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesSo ladybug dots on his shirt? Hahaha. Proof that he loves you. I'm sure he knew how much love and care you put into making him that fine shirt, and was willing to wear it as a symbol and reminder of your love. Of course, maybe he likes little ladybugs, too... 9 Nov 2008 7:53pm @Viewfinder: Chuckling, I add they were really only red polka dots, not ladybugs, but I can assure you that if I'd found fabric with ladybugs on it, I might have used THAT ... and I'm also sure he would have worn it! PS: Would you believe he even modeled in fashion shows with women who made their family's clothing? He truly has always been a good sport! Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaI love the way Mike is looking at his darling "ladybug". Such love in his eyes for his very talented wife. Good memories Judy and could we borrow Mike to do some cupboard building here ;))...kidding. I still cut Ray's hair, what little is left of it. I wonder what I would look like if I did my own??? Hugs to you. ♥ 9 Nov 2008 9:59pm @Marion: Your comment warms my heart, Marion, because that is truly what was in his eyes ... and still is; aren't we blessed? I fear his "cupboard building" days are behind him, as is his trusty DeWalt saw. :( Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomI like these nostalgic moments; and people had to be resourceful then. Thank's for sharing. 10 Nov 2008 12:11am @Observing: Thanks, Mike ..... and you're absolutely correct! ♥ Carol from United StatesThis is so precious.......I noticed the ladybug right away. 12 Nov 2008 9:15pm @Carol: Thank you, Carol, for your comment! dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Statesoh wow!! this is just wonderful -- thank you kindly for sharing this splendid capture and moment!! beautiful, charming, fun and very bold -- bravo!! 13 Nov 2008 3:00pm @dj.tigersprout: You may have read of my Sunday project, celebrating our 50th year together.
