1974 Christmas in the kitchen...

Another Sunday image from the archives; here we are, standing in the kitchen with the cabinets that Mike built behind us. Mike's funny shirt was another creation that came from my sewing machine - as did my dress. Ladybugs were making their appearances in my life ... as you can see on the Formica backsplash.

When money is tight, you learn how to do all kinds of things. I also cut Mike's, David's, Curt's, Susan's, and my own hair. *smile*

Agree with Magda totally.You both are so talented with your hands!Wow,sturdy looking cabinets and nice clothes...you must have saved a lot doing all these by yourselves!And so much more personal too!:)

@tyan: Thank you too, Ty ... Mike is sitting here and said, "I had the one tool that allowed me to do much of the carpentry ... my DeWalt radial table saw, purchased in 1954." ... Firefighters were underpaid back in those days so we did lots of things to make ends meet ... and it was the glue in our marriage!

@Lorraine: Life is made of memories and we certainly have many.........."housekeeping?" That doesn't include dusting, I hope ... I'm a total failure in that vein! :D

So ladybug dots on his shirt? Hahaha. Proof that he loves you. I'm sure he knew how much love and care you put into making him that fine shirt, and was willing to wear it as a symbol and reminder of your love. Of course, maybe he likes little ladybugs, too...

@Viewfinder: Chuckling, I add they were really only red polka dots, not ladybugs, but I can assure you that if I'd found fabric with ladybugs on it, I might have used THAT ... and I'm also sure he would have worn it!
PS: Would you believe he even modeled in fashion shows with women who made their family's clothing? He truly has always been a good sport!

I love the way Mike is looking at his darling "ladybug". Such love in his eyes for his very talented wife. Good memories Judy and could we borrow Mike to do some cupboard building here ;))...kidding. I still cut Ray's hair, what little is left of it. I wonder what I would look like if I did my own??? Hugs to you. ♥

@Marion: Your comment warms my heart, Marion, because that is truly what was in his eyes ... and still is; aren't we blessed? I fear his "cupboard building" days are behind him, as is his trusty DeWalt saw. :(
When I went back to work last year, Mike suggested he go for a $5 haircut and I didn't complain. ;D
