Florida Church

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 20 October 2008 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This architecture reminded me of churches in the northeast; I am really moved by church steeples.

PS: Thanks, Fliss, now I do remember that this church was in Cocoa Beach!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

Nice church captured in your nice composition.

@Arash: Thank you vey much!

Viewfinder from Bradenton, United States

Wow, this white-columned church reminds me of big Baptist churches in the Deep South.

20 Oct 2008 11:52am

@Viewfinder: My reference was, of course, New England, but you're right, the design has been used in lots of places. It was a surprise (to me) to find this in a small beach community.

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

How beautiful it is, so warm and welcoming...I've read about churches like these ;)

20 Oct 2008 12:06pm

@Lorraine: Thanks, Lorraine ... it's built along the lines of our hometown church in CT.

Betty from New Jersey, United States

A beautiful church, composed really well!

@Betty: Thank you.

Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United States

Hey... you stole my photo... I was driving by there the other day and told Mike that next time we were in Cocoa Bch that I was going to take a photo... hey you... church photo stealer... hahahahahaha... actually, that I know of, that is the 2nd steeple there... when we had hurricanes Jeanne and Frances... that steeple had tumbled point down into the roof... and never had a camera with me then... you will be happy to hear it is really starting to cool down over here.

20 Oct 2008 1:22pm

@Fliss: Hee, hee ... I love your comment, Fliss. YOU live there; we only visited, yet I got the shot before you?
I think I remember photos of a church steeple that was turned into the roof of the church after those hurricanes in 2004. I didn't know that when I grabbed the shot, though. It's a pretty church!

Observing from West Cheshire, United Kingdom

Great looking church, and a rather grand entrance.

20 Oct 2008 3:15pm

@Observing: I thought so too!

Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

I love steeples on churches. They look like they are reaching up to touch God. Lovely photo Judy.

20 Oct 2008 3:34pm

@Marion: I agree, Marion ... pointing heavenward with prayers and hope!

Tracey from White Hall, United States

So pretty, Judy! Love the height I feel in this. Wonderful framing!

20 Oct 2008 3:35pm

@Tracey: I'm glad you got the feeling of the height that I did.

Jeff from Pembroke Dock, United Kingdom

Nice shot, love the sharpness, and the clarity of the colours, nice one Judy.

20 Oct 2008 4:17pm

@Jeff: Thanks, Jeff ... all the photos look larger to me today - is it me, or did AM3 change something?

Barbara from Florida, United States

Gorgeous capture, I too am fascinated by church steeples and their architecture. Beautiful blue sky too.

20 Oct 2008 6:39pm

@Barbara: Thanks, Barb ... and did you read Fliss' comment about this photo? I thought she was sooo funny!

Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, Morocco

It's very beautiful, Judy, simply pure and graphic and I wish I could enter and visit .

20 Oct 2008 7:48pm

@Marie-Hélène Ammor: I love this simple style of church, often very light and bright inside.
It reminds me of our old hometown church in New England.

Chris from South Jersey, United States

It does look a bit like a church in the Northeast - nice building shot....

20 Oct 2008 8:29pm

@Chris: Thank you, Chris ... I guess that is our reference point, but as VF stated, it reminds him of churches in the south.

MaryB from Staffordshire, United Kingdom

A very beautiful church and the steeple is magnificent. I love the white churches you have over there Judy.

20 Oct 2008 9:40pm

@MaryB: Thank you, Mary. While I love your magnificent cathedrals, I do love the simple, white churches.

Jen from Alpharetta, United States

tyan from Singapore, Singapore

the church looked fantastic against the clear blue sky.Caleb will be attending a kindergarten at a church that looked a bit like that, just that it is much smaller, but caleb calls it the 'big church'.:) thanks for your comments at my blog.I really really wish the brothers will be close to each other,it is like an 'inheritance' that i would like to leave behind for them.but i am not sure if sibling closeness can be 'nurtured' or 'fated' if you know what i mean:)

21 Oct 2008 2:27am

@tyan: Dear Ty, there is no better way to nurture the love between your sons than to show them the love you have for Lawrence and vice versa. Love has to be seen and felt ... and I'm sure they see that!

I'm so happy that Caleb will be going to the "big church" for his kindergarten! xx

JJ from Jersey City, United States

I also am very fond of steeple shots and this one is superb nicely composed, and so beautiful against that lovely blue sky
