Our resident wild friend... II

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 2 September 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Quite tame, it let me get quite close, but the zoom lens helped also.
I think you look like a Piper to me, not a Peter. ;D

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

Well she/he is very beautiful. Beatrice Potter could use this picture in one of her books. It is a wonderful capture Judy. Love how the sunlight is highlighting those big, beautiful ears.

@Marion: I was so surprised s/he let me get as close as it did. The ears began to twitch after this shot and I took a good step back for one more shot.......

2 Sep 2008 6:16am

@jamesy: I don't know; I think I Piper might have been more trusting and therefore LET me get this close. *smile*

Peter Miller from Lichfield, United Kingdom

Looks like one happy bunny, better watch the farmer with his gun gun gun

2 Sep 2008 2:30pm

@Peter Miller: We have a neighbor who could be such a culprit; Mike wants to build a shelter for the little ones. ;D

Chris from South Jersey, United States

Great details - I am sure he/she would be happy with the portrait!!

2 Sep 2008 3:29pm

@Chris: Thanks, Chris ... we've called our daughter our 'bunny rabbit' for nye onto 48 years, so this little one was very dear to us!
Speaking of "little one" ... tell Megan I'm pulling for her!

Rags from Plano, United States

Lovely image. Well shot. These animals can be really hard to shoot.

Oh, Judy! I just love the angle of this portrait of this beautiful animal! It looks like he/she thinks you can't see him/her! :-) Just excellent!

2 Sep 2008 6:21pm

@Betty: I know, Betty - I was most careful to move in very slowly, and it seemed to honor that, but ... you'll have to see tomorrow's shot. ;D

2 Sep 2008 10:37pm

@Jen: Thank you, Jen ... gotta love that Sony camera!

Barbara from Florida, United States

You put your lens to great use capturing this furry friend, love the detail and light through the ears.
If there is a "friend II", you know there is a friend III, IV, V, and so on. They are wonderful to see hopping through the yard.
Now I chuckle wondering if you knelt or laid down for this shot. Of course if I lived nearby my camera would be capturing you taking the shot posting it on AM3.
Last year 3 babies were in a burrow near the magnolia tree. I was so happy to see they chose my yard.
Great site Cooliris, I will be taking a better look through it.
This is a very special Anniversary coming up for you and Mike. Looking forward to special images you have to share.

3 Sep 2008 2:26am

@Barbara: Thank you, Barb ... I was sooooo thrilled that s/he trusted me long enough to get photos - I, II & III. At first I squatted a little and then went I down on one knee, not caring whether I'd be able to get back up! <giggle>
