Need a Line?Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 22 August 2008 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio. This hawser makes an effective border around the property of a small yacht club in New Jersey. Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits. ---~--- Philippians 4:13 'We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.' ... <*}}}><

Barbara from Florida, United StatesFine shot Judy. I like the angle and texture of the rope and wood. And those tiny blooms in the grass that the bees love brings back memories. We don't have those in Florida. 22 Aug 2008 5:05am @Barbara: I think that's clover blossoming and you're right; we don't see that down here. Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaA wonderful composition, Judy. The textures of rope and wood are super and contrast well with the grassy background. So pleasing. 22 Aug 2008 8:05am @Michael Skorulski: Thank you, Michael. That strong hawser really 'spoke to me'. Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesThis scene is universal/coastal in its appeal. The Hawser in NJ and the Hawser in FL are the same; but as Barb noted, the clover does suggest a non-Florida location. I like the composition, Judy. The lightine, textures and tones of the post and rope are very fine. 22 Aug 2008 11:34am @Viewfinder: Yes, the Hawsers are the same and speak boldly of shore and boats! You're right; the clover gives it away. @Sof: Thank you very much! Lorraine from CanadaIt does have a wonderful nautical feel to any place, I really enjoy little touches such as this, great find Judy :) 22 Aug 2008 12:26pm @Lorraine: Thanks, Lorraine, I agree. I wish our area here in FL would have more of these touches! Betty from New Jersey, United StatesThe clover highlights the rope very nicely. Great composition, Judy. Well done! 22 Aug 2008 1:20pm @Betty: Thank you, Betty. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanThis looks much more like a rope than a hawser, and a beautifully turned one! The background embellishes the shot! 22 Aug 2008 1:39pm @Japanalia: I don't know internationally, but here in the U.S., this very heavy rope is called a hawser in nautical terms. It's far too heavy except for the very strong longshoremen working dockside, to handle. Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, MoroccoI like very much the idea the composition and the strong of the colors ,very beautiful picture ,Judy ! 22 Aug 2008 1:45pm @Marie-Hélène Ammor: Thank you, Marie. @Sun.~: Thank you very much! @leslie: Thanks, Leslie! tyan from Singapore, Singaporethis is lovely Judy!Love the starry like clover blossom, and the framing of this image.I would have just missed such a nice shot if i passed by.:) 22 Aug 2008 4:17pm @tyan: Thank you so much, both for your comment ... and for recognizing that you are 'only human'. ;D ... Ian & Caleb need a Mommy for those "cliff hanger" moments in their lives, not a "superwoman". Warm hugs, my friend! MJ from Delaware, United Statesreally sharp... and clear and I love the rope against the post and the green .... good eye 22 Aug 2008 4:44pm @MJ: Thanks, MJ. Jerry from Tampa, United StatesExcellent details and texture Judy! I hope you are not getting too wet!!!! 22 Aug 2008 5:02pm @Jerry: Thanks, Jerry, on both counts. We've had slightly more than 2" in the past three days and a little wind. There's flooding out near the coast, but we're a dozen miles inland. Chris from South Jersey, United StatesI like the flowers in the background, and the composition. Very nice..... 22 Aug 2008 5:45pm Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South AfricaSuch a great strong composition Judy. I love how the white rope seems to draw attention to the little white flowers in the grass. Lovely shot 22 Aug 2008 7:49pm @Mandy Provan: Thank you so much, Mandy; I appreciate your words. Ina from Krugersdorp, South AfricaNice composition and closeup. Love the detail on the rope, great job! 22 Aug 2008 9:07pm @Ina: Thank you, Ina. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomI like the outline of the rope which is slightly shaded. 22 Aug 2008 10:09pm @Observing: Thanks, Mike! |
