Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

This is really a beautiful capture Judy. I like the way you have cropped this just to show the tips of the boats tied to their individual posts and oh the reflections are so beautiful. Wonderful.

20 Aug 2008 5:06am

@Marion: Thank you, Marion. The vertical shot didn't require much cropping; the scene just told me to show that one lone sailboat stern among the powerboats.

Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgium

you've captured this morning nicely - I can feel the serenity... nice composition as well with the line of boats and dock poles

20 Aug 2008 8:05am

@Jason Kravitz: Thank you, Jason; I appreciate your comment.

Shuva Brata Deb from Hyderabad, India

Interesting angle.

20 Aug 2008 9:52am

@Shuva Brata Deb: When I saw this, the one, lone stern jumped out at me among all the bows of the other boats. ;D

Betty from New Jersey, United States

I had a look again to the pictures of Yann Arthus Bertrand through your link, a very good photographer.

Tracey from White Hall, United States

Textbook! Love the strong vertical line of the noses (sorry, don't know correct boat terms) of the boats. The cropping to the left makes our imagination fill in the rest. Great job!

20 Aug 2008 2:52pm

@Tracey: I like that - "noses" though most would say 'bows' ... <grin>
It's funny that I didn't take a horizontal shot of this scene - my eye just saw the vertical I guess.

MaryB from Staffordshire, United Kingdom

How wonderful it must be to walk along there, and hear the water as it gently laps around the moored boats. Beautiful shot Judy.

20 Aug 2008 2:55pm

@MaryB: Nothing is more soothing to our ears than to hear the sounds of boats moored or anchored.
Thank you, Betty!

Francesc B. from région parisienne, France

Magnificent colors, beautiful perspective and excellent sharpness ! I would have preferred the symmetric frame to the right, with shadow less wide but a little darker...

20 Aug 2008 6:07pm

@Francesc B.: Thank you ... and you may have a point. I didn't adjust the colors or shading.

Observing from West Cheshire, United Kingdom

Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South Africa

Love the angle and composition of this shot Judy......it has a really relaxed feeling to it. I can imagine the owners lazying on their decks , sipping cocktails and watching the water!

20 Aug 2008 8:53pm

@Mandy Provan: You're probably right on target, Mandy, and since it's that time of day in this time zone, I'm sure some are doing that right now!
