This river runs along the end of our daughter's street.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

This is the pier at the end of Fair Haven Road, isn't it? They've been reconstructing it all summer and I believe it was supposed to finished by August 15th, but, as of Saturday morning, they still weren't done.

@njsux: I get those side roads off River Road confused, but I think you are right. I know a few that it isn't, including Battin Road where River Rats sail from.

Viewfinder from Bradenton, United States

Judy, this is really a nice spot. How great to have something like this at the end of the street (your daughter's). I like the straight lines of the pier, and the reflections of the posts in the ripples.

18 Aug 2008 11:35am

@Viewfinder: There are so many lovely places there, to look out over the water. It really is a beautiful section of NJ.
Thank you for your comment.

Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, Morocco

I love this atmosphere and these colors .. very nice photo Judy!

18 Aug 2008 11:43am

@Marie-Hélène Ammor: Thank you, Marie.

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

Gorgeous Barb, what a lovely place to be around, this compo is sensational :)

18 Aug 2008 11:49am

@Lorraine: I have to chuckle, Lorraine ... as you're mixing up we Florida gals! ;D
That's okay - Barb's photos are great too!
As always, thanks for your comment.

MJ from Delaware, United States

Beautiful scene... I love the morning haze

18 Aug 2008 12:23pm

@MJ: Thanks, MJ.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Beautiful composition, Judy! I like the quality of the water with the reflection of the pillars.

18 Aug 2008 12:29pm

@Japanalia: I wish we could be up there in New Jersey right now; it would be better than waiting to see if this triopical storm, Kay, will become a dangerous hurricane!!!

Michael Skorulski from Cigel, Slovakia

A pretty composition, Judy. I like the mist and the gentle light in the foreground.

18 Aug 2008 12:37pm

@Michael Skorulski: Thanks, Michael ... I liked the light that day also!

Jen from Alpharetta, United States

Lovely composition

18 Aug 2008 2:06pm

@Jen: Thank you, Jen.

Chris from South Jersey, United States

Nice peaceful shot with the morning light and long shadows. A shame the haze obscures some of the morning sky. I like that pier in the shot - well done.

18 Aug 2008 3:32pm

@Chris: Thanks, Chris. The haze obliterated the longer eastern view, but I liked the pier and its shadows.

Barbara from Florida, United States

Gorgeous Lorraine! (I just about fell off my chair laughing and had to return the comment)
The scene is so peaceful with perfect composition and framing. Really a beautiful place to walk, watch the boats and scenery all year round.
Well captured Judy.

18 Aug 2008 4:29pm

@Barbara: Hee, hee ... I wonder if Lorraine will see our comments? ;D
Thanks Barb ... it would be a really beautiful place to walk if there were any distance available, but this is at a street end with private properties both left and right of it. It was pretty, anyway.

Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

Crazy bunch of mixed up ladies on Am3 if you ask me anything. But we will forgive Lorraine as she has so many people that she watches. Love this scene Judy. Very peaceful and tranquil. We are keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Fay and understand that she will be upgrading to a Hurricane 1. Stay safe my friend and hopefully you will be able to get some nice pictures that will be totally different than today's posting. Wild and wet ones. :D

18 Aug 2008 6:52pm

@Marion: "Crazy" is right! ;D
Thank you, Marion, for your comment and as for photos, the beaches may be blocked off if the tides are high. Time will tell if there is anything I can capture. Today was the first day of school in our county; tomorrow they're closed in case they have to be used for shelters and to keep the children safe.

Observing from West Cheshire, United Kingdom

That is a lovely spot to live by...... I can see the morning light just hitting the sand, beautiful work.

18 Aug 2008 9:20pm

@Observing: Thank you, Mike.

Betty from New Jersey, United States

Thank you for saying it's another beautiful section of NJ! And, it is very beautiful. Your daughter is very lucky to have this scene so nearby. Well done, Judy! Stay safe with Fay approaching.

18 Aug 2008 10:16pm

@Betty: I'm tired, as you must be, of people speaking poorly about NJ. Yes, there are busy, industrial and depressed areas, but they do not define the state as a whole.
Susan, just like you, has so much beauty around her, and we fully appreciate it all!
We're still watching to see where Fay 'decides' to head. At this point she still isn't a full-blown hurricane!

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

Well, oops, darn, I did it again....Dear Judy, Barb, Marion! Rest assured my Floridan, co-countrywoman that I always check the previous day comment! so many of you beautiful photographers to visit...so little time left in my brain ;)

19 Aug 2008 9:47am

@Lorraine: NOT a problem, Lorraine ... I can't think of people with whom I'd rather be confused! *smile*

Anne from White Rock, Canada

Really lovely place to have at the end of your daughter's street! Well, I guess Lorraine did read your responses - she's a lovely gal - and manages to get so many comments in to people and actually sees what's in the photograph too! Created a chuckle anyway, and we can all do with more of those! I did a quick flip to your site at webshots and some lovely pics there too. I think that is the first place I found to post pictures a good few years back - I think I have a few up there too
Hope that Fay avoids you - take care! :-)

19 Aug 2008 9:13pm

@Anne: Thanks, Anne, for your comment and your pleasant words on Lorraine! She does a super job of keeping up and with her meaningful comments! ... Thanks for going to my other site and I went to yours, leaving a comment on one of your albums. ... Yes, Fay did avoid the central west coast of Florida where we are ... at least for NOW!

Ina from Krugersdorp, South Africa

Just excellent. What a view! Great shot :)

@Ina: Thank you, Ina!
