Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaI love this picture. Even though the sky looks threatening and I know those clouds were full of rain, this is a bright and beautiful picture. 12 Aug 2008 5:39am @Marion: Thanks, Marion ... it was beautiful, while at the same time, a bit ominous! Amir from Tehran, Iranvery nice Judy.the sky is so nice with very very very nice clouds. 12 Aug 2008 7:36am @Amir: Thank you. I love to capture God's beauty around me and this day He presented some wonderful skies! tyan from Singapore, Singaporewow, looks like a movie scene when something evil is born,i'd run home the first thing!:) 12 Aug 2008 7:51am @tyan: Well, some rain was 'born' but while that isn't "evil", this sky was eerie! @Peter Miller: Thanks, Peter. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanI like the sky!!! Next I like the way bridge and buildings are deliniated on the grey, a beautiful effect! And last, but not least, the water has great quality....colours that defy a name. 12 Aug 2008 10:40am @Japanalia: That was a magical few minutes with the clouds and light changing things as we watched. I am so happy I ducked my little Beetle off the road and found a place I could get out for photos. Barbara from Florida, United StatesIncredible. It looks like a water spout could form at any time. 12 Aug 2008 10:47am @Barbara: Thanks, Barb, and you know exactly where I was when I took this - God offered the colors! Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, MoroccoColors of this picture are beautiful! The sea silver and tender green left with the dark sky, it is superb! 12 Aug 2008 10:54am @Marie-Hélène Ammor: Thank you, Marie; I'm glad you liked it. Chris from South Jersey, United StatesWow - those are some dark clouds. I really like the green grass across the edge of the photo - it adds a touch of color and light. We had our own dark clouds Sunday, with bad storms that knocked out power to our house for 25 hours - and with a pump needed for water, that meant no showers as well as no lights!! 12 Aug 2008 11:09am @Chris: Storms like this one are common in Florida during the summer, and as Barbara pointed out, it could have produced a water spout. I liked the green also, even through the lens as I took it. I remember being without power for long periods when we lived in CT and were always prepared with candles in various locations, set so they were safe. Our wiring where we are in FL is underground; our outages are more like 1-10 minutes when we have them. Of course there's always the chance of a hurricane in one's area and that would change things. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaBar none, my favourite photo today, exquisite, exquisite light ;0 12 Aug 2008 12:07pm @Lorraine: Well, thank you, sweet friend.............that is a compliment! xx DaveB from Exeter, United KingdomThats one evil looking sky, especially if it's as shot! 12 Aug 2008 2:09pm @DaveB: That is exactly as it was - eerie for sure! Jen from Alpharetta, United StatesAwesome...I just love watching storms roll in, the sky is so fantastic to watch! 12 Aug 2008 2:37pm @Jen: Thanks, Jen ....... it was eerily beautiful! alex centrella from California, United Statesgreat image, i like the green along the side, puts the finishing touch to it. 12 Aug 2008 2:44pm @alex centrella: Thank you, that makes three of us, I think! ;D @leslie: Thank you, Leslie! Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaA wonderful image, Judy. ominous and beautiful at the same time. 12 Aug 2008 4:12pm @Michael Skorulski: It was awesome watching it change - from yesterday's wild clouds to this one, and there are a couple more coming. Thank you, Michael. @Ina: Thanks, Ina. Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceA beautiful composition, Judy... I like this particular light, these silver tones on the sea, and the silhouettes of the buildings on the dark sky. 12 Aug 2008 5:11pm @Francesc B.: Thank you, and tomorrow's is even a bit more dramatic. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesI love the light on the water, highlighting that dark sky. A beautiful photo, Judy... very well done! 12 Aug 2008 6:49pm @Betty: Thanks, Betty ... it was eerie, but beautiful to see. Seraphine from San Francisco, United Statesi love the clouds and darkness. 12 Aug 2008 7:42pm @Seraphine: Truthfully, I didn't "make it glow" - I just captured what was there. I'm glad you liked it. Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South Africawow Judy - this shot is surreal1!! great work! 12 Aug 2008 9:04pm @Mandy Provan: Thanks, Mandy ... you must see tomorrow's; it's even moreso. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomThat's enough to make a person turn back..... wonderfully light quality though, the water has a silvery sheen to it. Superb shot. 12 Aug 2008 9:19pm @Observing: Thank you, Mike .......... it was a treasure to see, and I appreciate all the supportive comments today! DarkElf from Perth, Australiawow! fantastic, ominous, dark looking clouds! you have captured them superbly - i like the little strip of grass to the left - it serves as a great focus point and provides a nice contrast to the sky... 13 Aug 2008 2:39am @DarkElf: Thank you very much for your comment. I came to thank you and got carried away looking at your work; it's wonderful! Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesWeighing in on this one late, I love this shot. But I love these kinds of weather conditions. I'm the type of guy that if there is tropical storm weather in the Gulf, I go to the beach. I love the feel of the wind, the look of the clouds, the smell in the air. God's awesome power at work! I do draw the line at lightning and will take shelter when that's around. 14 Aug 2008 11:31am @Viewfinder: No matter when, I'm glad to have your comments! @akarui: It was a very interesting and rather ominous day! Thanks, Oliver. |
