Desperately needed rain...Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 25 July 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. We've had some, but no where near enough to bring the water table up to where it should be. Even a bad hurricane, according to the forecasters, won't be enough to do it. ;( Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits. ---~--- Philippians 4:13 'We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.' ... <*}}}><

Michael Skorulski from Cigel, Hong KongThe colors pop with richness. The composition is excellent and the rain has really done its part for your image as well. 25 Jul 2008 5:31am @Michael Skorulski: Thanks, Michael ... that rain helped, but we need so much more! Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaThen you are really dry. You don't want a hurricane I am sure. What lovely blossoms Judy. Such a wonderful color. 25 Jul 2008 5:56am @Marion: SUPER DRY and under watering restrictions, so we can't even make up for the lack of water. You're right; we don't want a hurricane - just some of the rain that's been skirting our county for a month now. We watched it on the radar online yesterday, going south about ten miles east of us! Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomI think all your rain came to the UK. Delightful shot, with the rain drops. 25 Jul 2008 7:57am @Observing: Now that we know where it is, send it back; we'll welcome it! ;D Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaYou've done Honour to the Rain God, He Is Pleased...WOWOWOWO this is stunning Judy ;) 25 Jul 2008 9:50am @Lorraine: Thank you, Lorraine ... we're just praying God sends more rain our way! Tracey from White Hall, United StatesGorgeous! Love what water does to floral pics. I feel your pain with the water issue. Here in MD we had a record WET May, only to not have a drop since! 25 Jul 2008 12:17pm @Tracey: Thanks, Tracey. tyan from Singapore, Singaporeah,i feel so refreshed just looking at this crimson beauty...a truly brilliant shot,Judy:) 25 Jul 2008 2:07pm @tyan: Thanks, Ty ... I'm glad you liked it! Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanThis is wonderfully shot and as wonderfully presented! I love it! My Pet Hibiscus is also blooming, but nowhere so beautiful! We've been promised rain,too....it would help to refresh the trees and wash the streets! 25 Jul 2008 2:34pm @Japanalia: Thank you, Gabriela ... this blossom is in our one Hibiscus bush - the same one that was badly hit by frost last winter. It truly is a remarkable plant for our climate. Chris from South Jersey, United StatesJudy, a wonderful shot. I have noticed an improvement in how you compose images lately (at least to my eye), and this one is no exception - great framing and placement of the elements of this picture. And of course, the colors and water droplets are wonderful....I pray you get rain (but not a hurricane).... 25 Jul 2008 3:00pm @Chris: Thank you for your compliment. I'm wondering if it's my compositions, or perhaps my cropping. I'm posting photos no wider than 800 pixels now (even for a wide shot such as yesterday's beach scene). Cropping from 3872 pixels to 800, leaves lots of latitude for a crop. I do think there is lots to learn here on AM3 so the eye becomes trained to better see the opportunities in a given photo. Thanks again. Monique from NetherlandsVery nice compositon of this wet Hibiscus, red isn't an easy color to capture on pictures but you managed great! 25 Jul 2008 7:24pm @Monique: Thank you - my Sony does a good job on reds, which pleases me. Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesWe're behind on rain, too. But the last few days have been great. So even if we're behind, we're getting closer. But I envy the ones closer into the Tampa Bay/St. Pete area, they seem to get all the rain most of the time. 25 Jul 2008 8:27pm @Viewfinder: The rain is so spotty, drenching some and depriving others. rajalekshmy from Plano, United StatesWater scarcity in Florida? That is hard to digest. We had an especially bad drought down here in Texas two years ago. Water use was restricted that we were allowed to use sprinklers only once a week; same for using water for our garden. It was a bleak sight to see brown lawn everywhere in the neighborhood. This year our summer is much better. 25 Jul 2008 8:29pm @rajalekshmy: We have had once a week watering for nearly three years in our county. Lawns were very brown in the dry spring and have just now, with a few summer rains, turned green again, but we are still VERY low in the water table. Ina from Krugersdorp, South AfricaHow awesome! Fantastic closeup! Don't know where your 300th post is exactly, but congratulations anyway! Great achievement :) 27 Jul 2008 10:44am @Ina: Thank you, Ina, and the same to you! This is a fantastic photo community! Tracey from New Port Richey Florida, United Stateslove the bright green and red. super rain shot 29 Jul 2008 5:43pm @Tracey: Thanks, Tracey. |
