Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

What gorgeous flowers. We don't have them this far North. They look so pure and white.

18 Jul 2008 6:17am

@Marion: I'm not surprised they don't grow up there; they're tropical. Have you ever smelled their fragrance? It is heavy, but heavenly! I'd love to grow them here, but we're on the northern edge and they don't handle any frost, which we do get.

Anita from West Nottingham, United States

Lovely! So crisp and clear.

Such power in these tiny, delicate beauties...bravo my friend...and I saw your comment on Vf's blog...Is your Belle okay?

18 Jul 2008 2:52pm

@Lorraine: Thank you, Lorraine, for your comment ... and yes, Belle does seem okay this afternoon. She's resting here on her bed next to my desk chair. If any thunder comes, she'll snuggle against the footrest beneath my ankles! ;D

@Rags: Thank you, Rags!

Barbara from Florida, United States

This image has a warm depth to it and the tone is like you used a filter on your lens. Nicely framed. I love the aroma of these Frangipani a/k/a Plumeria. Mine have not bloomed this year but full of leaves.

18 Jul 2008 3:38pm

@Barbara: Nope - no filter was used, but if you remember, this was taken just before the sky turned 'navy blue' as that hard thunderstorm approached, so that may have altered the normal lighting.

saman from BANEH -KURDISTAN, Iran

Viewfinder from Bradenton, United States

I love these flowers; you've captured the essence of their soft, fragrant beauty. A friend has given us some small cuttings and I've planted them in our front yard "jungle" area. They seem to be thriving, but are small. Planted a small cutting last year and thought it had died, but my wife rediscovered it in May and it was blooming! Nothing as big or elaborate as this, but to see the flower was quite rewarding.

Now "Handsome and beautiful" (from your comment at my site) has me feeling quite complimented. Thanks Judy; I really appreciate your friendship. And for your Belle, I know her heart difficulties must worry you a lot. But it's true -- only God knows the number of our days, and why. So to let go and let God may be the first act of grace and miracle in the making. It is, at least for me. Will keep your Belle in my thoughts and prayers.

18 Jul 2008 9:20pm

@Viewfinder: Thank you, Glenn ... and I wish you huge successes with your plants. You're just far enough south of us that you should be able to grow them quite well...

As for your Bella and our Belle, we will continue to pray that God has more rather than fewer days counted out for them and in the meantime, as you wrote, we'll let God direct their paths ... and ours!

Michael Skorulski from Cigel, Slovakia

Henry from Boston, United States

The fragrance of plumeria always takes me back to Hawaii. Every morning I would gather the fallen blossoms and put them in a basket in the center of the breakfast table. You done a good job capturing their luminous nature here.

4 Sep 2008 6:32pm

@Henry: They take US back to Hawaii also; we went in 1984 for our 25th anniversary!
Thank you .......... we've wanted to grow them, but we're just a bit too far north to have them for that.
