Great Blue HeronPosted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 26 June 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. ................... I got just a bit too close and this fellow decided to walk away from me. ;D ................... The Great Blue is the largest North American heron, with a head-to-tail length of 36-54 in (91–137 cm), a wingspan of 71 in (180 cm), and a weight of 4.8-8 lbs (2.2–3.6 kg. It is blue-gray overall, with black flight feathers, red-brown thighs; the head is paler, with a nearly white face, and a pair of black plumes running from just above the eye to the back of the head. The feathers on the lower neck are long and plume-like; it also has plumes on the lower back at the start of the breeding season. Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits. ---~--- Philippians 4:13 'We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.' ... <*}}}><

Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaI love this series of three shots because you can almost see him carefully walking away from the scary lady ;D <giggle> I think he is tip toeing. Seriously, the detail in the feathers and the color of the water are all top notch. 26 Jun 2008 6:31am @Marion: Thanks, Marion ...
