Rose Bushes for David

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 18 April 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Three rose bushes that sat in the sanctuary for David's memorial service, are now planted in our front yard at the base of the flagpole.

Knock Out® Rose:
Not only is it the most blackspot-resistant Rose we've ever grown, but it also stands up to Japanese beetles and other pests, needs only half a day of sunshine, blooms over an exceptionally long period, and offers foliage and fruit interest as well as lovely blossoms.

Exceptionally hardy and disease-resistant, Knock Out® is also breathtakingly beautiful. The flowers begin early in Rose season and continue for many weeks, then rests for a bit, and repeats for the remainder of summer and well into fall! It has become so immensely popular since its introduction that new Knock Outs are arising each season

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

Well it certainly is a "knockout". Such a pretty color and I love the collage that you have made here. Plus it will always be a beautiful reminder and tribute to David.

@tyan: As a mother, you know the concern of any harm coming to your children. I may be old enough to be your grandmother, that that very concern never leaves us. I pray you never have to know such grief.

However, with God's love, we WILL get through this 'valley'. ... Warm hugs, Judy

What a perfect way to celebrate David's life. And in your description of the summer blooming cycle of a "knock out rose" there is a metaphor for the resurrection.

@Viewfinder: Thank you, VF ....... I like your analogy of the metaphor! Blessings, Judy & Mike

Barbara from Florida, United States

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

A most beautiful collage of this lovely rose! Wish I had one, too!!!!! But...I assume they cannot be bred in a container only!

4 May 2008 8:25am

@Japanalia: THAT, I do not know. I suppose it could be if the container held enough soil for it. Who knows, in a container it might grow beautifully and perhaps not get overly bushy. Check it out in your area; it is called Knock Out.
