Dylan from Delhi, United StatesNice framing for this shot. I like how the grass and palm leaves(fronds?) seem very similar. 26 Feb 2008 5:42am @Dylan: You are correct - they're palm fronds. The grasses, called 'sawgrass' in this area, are extremely sharp and I guess you would say 'barbed' to some degree. You couldn't walk through it without heavy protection on your legs. Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaWeeki Wachee? I love that name. Sounds like our Twiggly Wiggly Drive or our Dingle Bingle Ave. Seriously, those are names of streets here. Anyhow Judy this is a great vista and I love how you have framed it. 26 Feb 2008 7:32am @Marion: Weeki Wachee is an Indian name, of which there are many here in Florida. I like the names of the ones you gave too! The vista along the shore is difficult to capture, as I told Chris, because it is so flat. I suppose I could have climbed up on top of my Beetle for a better shot ... NOT! :D Chris from South Jersey, United StatesGreat colors - lots of green and deep blue in the sky. The foreground is a little distracting for me..... 26 Feb 2008 12:12pm @Chris: I tend to agree about the foreground. As the land drops off from the road and the grasses sway, it's busy. It's difficult to capture the 'feeling' of the area because it is so flat. @Viewfinder: Thanks, VF. Jen from Alpharetta, United StatesThe name is funny and the image is lovely!!! : ) 27 Feb 2008 2:02am @Jen: It's an Indian name, along with Withlacoochee River, and many more in Florida. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanI saw on TV a documentary on the nature in Florida. If you have a car, you can drive around and find such quiet Eden-like places where time seems to have stopped! 29 Feb 2008 11:11am @Japanalia: You are so right, Gabriela ... you do need a car, and sometimes my Beetle gets me into places that a larger one couldn't travel. *smile* |
