Keeping warm on a cool morning...

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 12 February 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Before the activities of the day began, these fires helped take away the chill.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog; your comments are greatly appreciated. I apologize for not getting to all of your posts. I will visit as time permits.

Well...how cool? Certainly not freezing! The women are wearing blouses!Do they sleep in tents? (I wouldn't want to be in their shoes!)Isn't it funny that even "off show" time they are "living" just like in those far gone days! Look at those fires!!!!

@Japanalia: This is fun to answer ... It was in the high 50's F - cool to be sitting around without any cover or fires.
Some of them do sleep in tents; some have RVs just off-site to use. The object is to spend the weekend living back in the 1860's era and they really do a good job. People who are involved are, for the most part, what they call "Civil War buffs."

LOVE IT! so many stories before THE STORY is told, I like background stuff, you know, behind the scene, you do that remarkably well :)

@Lorraine: Thank you, Lorraine. I was more adventurous this year, wandering back within the camps.
Groups of men will stand around talking and while it looks like they could be talking 'war strategy' - they could also be talking about "that old lady taking their photos." <giggle>

Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

This is really an interesting shot. I see women, small children, a little one being held by his mother, some looking chilled and some looking bored. This is a picture that tells quite a story. These "Civil War buffs" really get into playing their part well. Great shot Judy, great shot.

@Marion: Thanks so much, Marion ...... and now I'm out the door to work! xo
