Under an old Oak Tree...

Posted by Judy (Brooksville, Florida, United States) on 10 February 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

Young people playing under the tree drew a rather period picture.

Marion from Nanaimo, BC, Canada

I love this one Judy. The tree is huge and welcoming and the children playing beneath it makes for a wonderful capture. Do all your trees have the moss hanging off them?

@Marion: No, not all trees have the Spanish Moss, but the moss does 'like' the big old Oaks. Because of the curl of the oak leaves, the moss has an easy 'hold' when the tendrils blow in the wind.
I'm glad you liked the photo, Marion.

Great tree - the scale is wonderful with the children underneath. The colors are very subdued and wonderful as well...

@Chris: Thank you, Chris ... I enjoyed this scene myself.

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

I like everything about this, but the tree, the tree I adore....wow how lovely and what fun!

@Lorraine: I loved how the tree dwarfed the tents ...... and of course the children playing caught my eye too.

Dylan from Delhi, United States

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

This is one kind of tree that I love and I cannot see in Japan! This looks much more like a presentday camp than a period arrangement!

12 Feb 2008 12:09pm

@Japanalia: This tree is HUGE but how does it compare in size to your Wisteria? I suppose the Wisteria is not as tall perhaps.
All the small tents don't represent a typical "camp" in the US these days. Camping is more often done in recreational vehicles - like big buses. <frown>

Amazing and old tree! ;)
