I see you down there...

...and since I forgot to identify them, I'll do it now.
A Cardinal is on top of the feeder roof (on this side of the barn), and the Red-bellied woodpecker is inside. I don't know if the two species ever shared being inside together or not. I took my shot and then left them alone.

Othersideblue from Kerman, Iran

Oh what a beautiful capture and how cute. A romance about to happen? ;)

17 May 2012 5:15am

@Othersideblue: I doubt a romance as they're different species! ;D

Maria from California, United States

such cute capture Judy...it seems you have lots of fun with your wildlife around you...and your camera, of course! :)

17 May 2012 6:24am

@Maria: We love watching the happenings outside, and Mike is diligent about keeping food in the feeder for them.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

The one inside is marvellous! What a coat of feathers and red head! What's this? Romance? Looking for a nest before the marriage ceremony?

17 May 2012 9:33am

@Japanalia: Yes, that Red-bellied woodpecker is striking. I don't think romance because other bird is a Cardinal. ;D

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

Too cute Judy! I guess he is just making his feeling known that the woodpecker is hogging the food line! ;-)

17 May 2012 11:27am

@Eric Cousineau: I think you're right! ;D

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld(Old West Wales Boy), Germany

What a colourful visitor !! A bird table brings lots of different birds into the garden.

17 May 2012 12:09pm

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Yes, they, like we, enjoy eating! ;D

Rick from Toronto, Canada

These tree peckers are here in abundance and I am always challenged to get close enough (in the recreational parts of the city where I see them) for a decent shot... this is great, and funny.

17 May 2012 12:23pm

@Rick: We see more here than we ever did in CT, but then the area is pretty wide open so they can see any predator, hawk, buzzard, or cat.

Bron from Canberra, Australia

Wonderful birds - you're so fortunate to have them visit!

17 May 2012 12:24pm

@Bron: Thank you so much ... but your image today is truly a winner!

Joyce from Montana, United States

Oh what a sweet domestic catch! Sharp feather designs on these little birds.

17 May 2012 12:43pm

@Joyce: Not the highest caliber, but fun to see in the side yard! ;D

Don from Spokane, United States

A nice shot of these birds who appear to be somewhat friendly with each other.

17 May 2012 3:16pm

@Don: Thank you, Don ... fun to have in our yard.

Mhelene from Paris, France

A great capture of these two beautiful birds .

@Mhelene: Thanks so much.

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Incredible colors and markings in the woodpecker's plumage!

17 May 2012 8:44pm

@Steven: Thank you, Steven ... a far handheld zoom, but fun to see. ;D
